I’d like to build the following expression in my query GetStartWeekNumber(DatePart(“ww”,[EnteredDate]), Year([EnteredDate])) So if EnteredDate = 11/3/2009 the function would return 11/1/2009 But GetStartWeekNumber does not exist as an Access Built-In Function. Is there another way to do this as an expression in a query? I’m not familiar with creating my own functions. Thanks. There are also other problems – for one thing, it’s not a very generic solution. You must customize several parts to work for different queries. If the set of tables used in the outermost FROM clause are different, to be the innermost FROM clause, you have to adjust the WHERE clause to reference the correct primary key (or some combination thereof). Then you have to also keep the ORDER BY in sync. That’s a lot of tweaks if you want to use it for different queries. That is why this is the last method listed here but it is one possible solution.

Using this script… no. While I use the data merge feature of InDesign often, I avoid the “multiple records” feature, but I typically prepare one record on one page, output the resulting file to PDF and then let the imposing software take care of the page imposition. If page imposition software is something that you don’t have, there is an alternate technique that requires preparing one record on a page, and then using the multipageimporter2.5 script to import them onto a larger sheet. Thank you so much for this! These instructions were perfect and clear, and I got it all done, except when I go to print. It prints out 1 per page. I have Word 2007, and tried printing out on letter size with 4 per page, but then it prints them all very tiny in the corners. Can you help me? Thanks 🙂

For whatever reason, AllExperts did not let me post a direct reply to your response re: “Ok, what is the ControlSource of the Fixture Number control? It should be: =cboZone & “-” & Format(Me.FNumber,”000″)” and adding “Me.Refresh” to my code (within the last 10 minutes). It just had the “rate this reply”. I added the Me.Refresh and corrected my location of the =cboZone code and it works correctly now.

That’s it! From now on, all you have to do to add SEQ field numbering is either type in your AutoCorrect text (1] and n]) or select the options from your Quick Parts list. If you find your numbering gets out of whack (remember, the numbers don’t update when you insert a new number between two existing numbers, or delete a number), select the sequence and press F9 (Hint: To update all fields for the entire document, press Ctrl+A then F9).

You can easily maintain the jump lines of stories that continue to other pages, such as a line that says “Continued on page 42.” Use a jump line page number to automatically update the number of the page containing a story’s next or previous threaded text frame when you move or reflow the story’s threaded text frames.

Ugh okay though the number shows up when I move or type in another field (First_name field) than clicking generate. When I click generate it doesn’t give the number. how can i fix it? here’s what I did:

•  When you have finished typing the question, do not press ; instead, press to jump to column 2, then immediately press to start the next level of outlining (or click the Demote arrow on the property bar). This should insert an “a.”, whereupon you can start typing your answers. Press after each answer, except the last one for that question.

Scott, I have “txtProject ID#” in the code but the error message replies with highlight of “txtProject” omitting the ID#. I am aware of the # issue. The table field name is PROJECT ID#. The control is a text box of that field name. Is this not the control to use?

Klaus Nordby, one of our good-natured Norwegian hecklers, has produced a ray of sunshine in the midst of a deep, dark Scandanavian winter by coming up with a wonderful little trick involving adding sequential numbers inside a paragraph.
