Click Print Preview to check the settings. (Publisher 2010 and 2013 does this automatically.) The ticket numbers should increase by one (Figure K) as they do in the Excel sheet. Publisher will generate enough pages to accommodate your entire list of values in Excel.
Serial numbering means that a unique number/code will be printed on each piece that does not form any kind of series (for example: X47YK, M83RQ…). Serial numbering is used for serial numbers and tickets.
Does anyone know of the lisp I’m talking about? Can you paste it here? There’s a webstie (esurveylisp) that has a command called INR that does basically the same thing (per their Youtube channel), but their website never loads for me.
I am curently working on a larger projekt, where we have aprox. 4500 pcs.of furnituer designed in 4 different kind of families, generic, furnituer, furnituer systems and specialty equipment. We need to be able to asign every pcs.of funituer a seqventual serial number, we have tried to do this using an extension with a funktion called element positionerning, but we have had no success with this tool, apparently it is taking up to much memory.
Ok, generating a random 3 digit number is a whole different thing, so I’m not going to go into that. If you want your numbers to start at 100 (to insure three digits) then change the 0 to 99. The Nz function will return the value listed if the field is Null. So the first time you execute that code, the DMax should return a Null since no numbers have been generated for the PONum field. The Nz will then substitute 99 and then increment that by 1. You can accomplish something similar by just entering 100 as the PONum for one record. .
◦ Blank (empty) numbered paragraphs can easily be removed by placing the cursor in them and pressing the shortcut toggle key (
Note By default, Word follows the number with a tab that is set at 0.25″ after the number. If you set your Indent Position to be larger than the Number Position, this will control the position of the tab after the number as well as the text that follows it. But if you want text to wrap back to the margin, the default 0.25″ tab will appear.
☼ Starting a QuickBullets list with the other characters (>, *, ^, +) will create a single-level bullet list whereby pressing
Tip Outlined Numbered Lists give you the option to use numbering and bullets in the same scheme. Select the particular level, and in the Number Style field, scroll down and choose one of the bullet choices for that level.
timdunn you just saved my life and my job. Why is this so hard and totally disconnected from how to set up Heading styles through the Styles options? I don’t remember it being this hard in previous versions of Word. I wasted hours and hours today banging my head against a brick wall. Thanks so much for you helpful guidance and instructions. Lifesaver.
Hello Bruce, I seem to be having a different problem altogether. I created my ticket in word using logos and text boxes as needed, ticket looks great. I followed your very clear instructions but when I did the Finish & Merge I got this message, “You cannot include DATA, NEXT, NEXTIF, or SKIPIF fields in comments, headers, footers, footnotes or endnotes.” I then click on OK and get this, “A field calculation error occurred in record 1. Bruce any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!!

Just struggled through exactly the same issue. Copy the 1st page onto the second, right click on the each inserted number, and click update field, then select that page, copy and then paste for as many pages as you need. Select all these pages and hit F9, and as if by magic, all the number will fill in.
Does anyone know whether its possible to make Coreldraw (11) number objects within a file with consecutive numbers. It gets a bit tedious placing text and renumbering it incrementally manually when you’ve got 500 items to label!! I was looking for a shortcut, or perhaps a macro which can take the boredom out of the process. Any ideas?
Now, what’s the deal with the UniqueKeyVariant parameter for the RowNumber() function? We are not even using it all! True, but if we didn’t, Access will call RowNumber() only once for an entire query and thus we get “1” for the entire dataset. That is a good way to save on CPU processing – why call Now() for each row? In this case, we want to go against this CPU-saving measure and ensure that the RowNumber() is in fact called once per row to generate a new number for that row. Thus, we pass in a parameter — a primary key of a table is a good choice for this purpose. So we get a nice sequential number generated all in the query with VBA function.
I have an opportunity to make a good impression at a new job, but ive never had the initiative to learn how to write a lisp routine. at my work we make walk-in coolers and freezers. these coolers are modular with a standard wall piece measuring a certain length. these wall sections have to be numbered sequentially. is there any way to automate this? sometimes we get change order from the client and it means going back and manually changing multiple texts (sometimes in the hundreds), but i thought if there was a way these wall sections could be scheduled somehow that when a new wall panel is inserted in the beginning of the sequence it would update everything after it automatically.
Toggling lets you start numbering, then stop numbering to add other (non-numbered) material, then start numbering again with the next number in the sequence, etc. (You can also select text and then toggle numbering on/off just for the selection. See more tips below.)
With the field code still highlighted, press [Alt]+ [F9] to toggle back to the results display. The \r switch resets the value sequence (from earlier field codes), and 1 tells the code to begin the sequence with the number 1. This code should probably return 1, but don’t worry if it doesn’t.
I am creating an image of 150mm x 100mm at 300dpi but photoshop keeps adding decimal points like 150.02 when i change the image from the original size, is it something I am doing wrong or a known bug? You would expect that when you change an image to 150 x 100mm it would stay at that size and not be added to.
Select if you want the page numbers of the current section to follow the numbering of the previous section. Using this option, the page numbers in the document or section update automatically when you add pages prior to it.
If you’re a self-taught InDesign user, you may not have been introduced to automatic page numbering, one of the biggest time-saving features in the program. InDesign allows you to set up the page numbering feature in your Master Pages. Then, as you add or shuffle pages, InDesign updates individual page numbers accordingly. You can style the page number any way you like.
All of this happens in the Bullets & Numbering dialog box, shown below. You will definitely want to use paragraph styles for this. My first one is called Chapter title. You will need to begin by changing the List Type to Numbers for all of the levels, and you must both name the List and use the same named list for all Levels. You do this by selecting the List > New List.
Warning Some people like to use BACKSPACE to remove numbering. This method does remove the number but leaves the cursor indented to whichever level you happened to be in, especially in Outline Numbered paragraphs. The two http://ringringpromotions.org mentioned above will remove the number and restore your cursor to the left margin.
Of course, it’s possible, and not very hard. All you have to do is to learn how to use variables. It sounds a bit tricky at the start, but it’s dead easy. At work I use it to print 100-2000 labels at a time with different names for trophies/medallions etc. You only need to know what XML files are and how to create one.
Now there is an error message Compile error: Method or data member not found. With a yellow arrow, and the Private Sub Command4_Click() is highlighted in yellow. and the .txtPONum = is highlighted in blue.
i have gone through the intersting discussions on this site. I am having a problem with foot notes in Adobe in design cs 4. when i pasted a fresh set of pages in a doc in- in design, the fn numbering starts from 1 all over again in the fresh set of pages. i am not able to insert foot notes manually, as it does not creat the space below the text. I am stuck for help
• Step 6. Click the Generate button in the Reference Tools dialog, or click on Tools, Reference, Generate. This brings up a small Generate dialog where you are given two choices: Save Subdocuments and Build hyperlinks. The first is only useful if you are working in a master document which has one or more subdocuments (for more on this topic see here), and the second is only useful if you have (or want to have) hypertext links in the document. Most often, you can just click OK.
