At this point, you’re ready to load your card stock into the printer and print the tickets. I recommend that you preview the print job before sending it to the printer to make sure everything’s in order. To print the tickets, do the following:

1. Yes, after you click the output box of the frame with the pasted text you delete that frame while the cursor is still loaded. That is to make sure you got all the text loaded for the automatic adding of pages as needed. If you leave some of the pasted text in its frame, and delete it afterwards, you will not get new pages added automatically.

I have drawings specifically named and need them in separate PDF files but need to insert a number in each pdf file that is sequential. Is there a way to add a sequential number to multiple pdf files. Each PDF file needs to remain as a separate file with the original file name. In past projects I have added the numbers as a comment, to ach pdf file, but it makes the files quite large.

For example, to create a “Figure A” effect, enter the word “Figure” and a space before the numbering metacharacters (such as Figure ^#.^t). This adds the word “Figure” followed by a sequential number (^#), a period, and a tab (^t).

I find that one of the most frustrating aspects of list numbering is “How do I start again with number 1?!!” Believe me, it is no small feat. MVP Margaret Aldis helps scale that peak by presenting us with several methods in her How to Restart Style-Based Numbering.

•  Step 6. Optionally add one or two separator spaces (simply press the Spacebar) or a flush right with dot leaders (click on Format, Line, Flush Right…), then press to bring up the Symbols list. Remember that you must update the values in the sheet if you want to continue the numbering series with the next batch of tickets. For instance, if you want your next batch of tickets to start with 112, you’d open the workbook and change the value 100 to 112, and update the remaining values accordingly. Don’t forget to save the workbook after updating the values.

•  Step 2. Click the Options button, and click on Copy to make a copy of this outline that you can edit to make a brand-new outline. The Outline Definition Copy dialog opens. If you want to copy the new outline style to the default template, click on the radio button “Default template”; otherwise, click OK. The Outline Definition Duplicate dialog opens; give the style a name such as “Checklist” then press OK. The new style will be added to the bottom of the icons. (It should already be selected; if not, select it.)

The Current Page Number is a special character inserted in a text frame on a page or master page (recommended) where the page number will appear, by selecting Type>Insert Special Character>Markers>Current Page Number. Short of doing it manually (!), Linc, I’d suggest you experiment with some of the number formatting switches for a field code, as described here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/insert-and-format-field-codes-HA010338798.aspx#BM8.

You can automatically number items in your document. Most of you already know this. You can also automatically number figures, tables, illustrations, etc. If you decide to reorder those items, Word will automatically update the numbers so that the are in the correct order.

The best way to do this is to use a primary key. In cases where a query is complex and joins several tables, we may need to use the primary key of the table that’s on the bottom of the relationship hierarchy or possible a concatenation of multiple tables’ unique key so that the expression will be unique and thus we can identify which sequential number we have assigned.

The SeqField List Numbering Add-In provides a toolbar and keyboard shortcut to quickly create, expand, or refresh numbered list using SEQ fields. The following paragraphs and illustrations provide an introduction to using the SeqField List Numbering add-in.
