“how do i sequentially number labels in word +sequentially numbered labels in publisher”

Chapter numbers cannot be included as a prefix in a generated index or table of contents (such as 1-3, 1-4, and so on). If you want chapter numbers to be included as prefixes, use section prefixes instead of chapter numbers.

When you need to produce the next higher main number in the level’s sequence (i.e., “2.1”), press and then click the “Set Paragraph Number” button on the Outline property bar that displays whenever the cursor is inside an outline. Then either –

You can insert one or more unnumbered paragraphs of text under any outline number (or bullet) and maintain tabbed alignment by using a Line Break at the end of each inserted paragraph () instead of using the key (i.e., a hard return). Pressing automatically increments the outline (at the same level), but using line breaks does not.

To create a multi-level list, define the list and then create a paragraph style for each level you want. For example, a list with four levels requires four paragraph styles (each one assigned the same defined list). As you create each style, you define its numbering format and paragraph formatting.

In mathematics, a sequence is an enumerated collection of objects in which repetitions are allowed. Like a set, it contains members (also called elements, or terms). The number of elements (possibly infinite) is called the length of the sequence. Unlike a set, order sequential numbering in indesign and exactly the same elements can appear multiple times at different positions in the sequence. Formally, a sequence can be defined as a function whose domain is either the set of the natural numbers (for infinite sequences) or the set of the first n natural numbers (for a sequence of finite length n). The position of an element in a sequence is its rank or index; it is the integer from which the element is the image. It depends on the context or of a specific convention, if the first element has index 0 or 1. When a symbol has been chosen for denoting a sequence, the nth element of the sequence is denoted by this symbol with n as subscript; for example, the nth element of the Fibonacci sequence is generally denoted Fn.

Single page jobs – multiple Bank Cheques for a client company with a common background for the cheque and some other objects unique for each bank, such as the name, bank account, contact information, etc. I use layers when designing my clients’ cheques for multiple banks to their distribution of dividend warrants among their shareholders.

One caveat: you may occasionally notice that when you insert several of these in a row (easy to do when you click on Quick Parts and find where you’ve saved it), the automatic numbering doesn’t seem to work:

Is it possible to create a document with a number in the top corner that will auto number every time the document is opened, e.g the first time it is opened thw number could be 10 then the next time it is opened the number would be 11 and so on

Starting an auto-numbered paragraph is deceptively simple. See those buttons on the top row of the Paragraph section of the Home tab? The left-most one is for bullets; the next two to its right are for numbering and multi-level numbering, respectively. Simply click the button to toggle the feature on, or click on the drop-down arrow on each button to select a specific style. If you don’t like any of the delivered choices, you can click Define New to set your own.

A single InDesign document can contain up to 9,999 pages, but page numbers can be as large as 999,999. (For example, you can correctly number a 100‑page document that starts on page 9,949.) By default, the first page is a recto (right) page numbered 1. Odd-numbered pages always appear on the right; if you use the Section Options command to change the first page number to an even number, the first page becomes a verso (left) page.

Click Preview & Print to review your design. To make adjustments, just click the Customize button to go back to the Customize screen. When your design is complete, just click the Print button to create the PDF file. Open the file, and your tickets are ready to be printed.

Tip: If you are looking for a more advanced auto-numbering system for your data, and Access is installed on your computer, you can import the Excel data to an Access database. In an Access database, you can create a field that automatically generates a unique number when you enter a new record in a table.

¤  With this method, the Outline property bar might only be visible when the cursor is on the same line as the number. In normal outlines, the Outline property bar will be visible when the cursor is anywhere in an outline level’s text. (N.B.: If you cannot see the property bar at all, it might have been hidden: see here.)

GREAT tip with lots of uses! Thank you. This will save me hours of work on some tickets I’m designing. However, I also need to set up table tents that have numbers on them. They’re 2-up, and are folded, so each number needs to appear twice on the same page. In short, I want a page with 1/1 and 2/2, and I’m getting 1/2 and 3/4. Am I missing an obvious fix? Thank you.

The model year for vehicles with a GVWR greater than 10,000 lb (4,500 kg), as well as buses, motorcycles, trailers and low-speed vehicles, may no longer be identified within a 30-year range. VIN characters 1–8 and 10 that were assigned from 1980–2009 can be repeated beginning with the 2010 model year.

I’m making a research report on landscape design. The final document would have perhaps pages like 80-90 or so. Earlier I used to make reports and multipage documents on MS Word. While making the contents page, I would have to look at each and every chapter’s name, subheading and then add the page number manually. Is there any automatic system in InDesign?

Occasionally we come across project requirements that include the ability to do sequential numbering in Access on a set of data. We cannot just use the auto-number data type because there is no promise of sequentiality but only uniqueness. In other words, if someone creates a record then later deletes it, there will be a gap in the sequence. So, what are our options? There are actually several ways, each with its pros and cons.

The Pages panel can display absolute numbering (labeling all pages with consecutive numbers, starting at the first page of the document) or section numbering (labeling pages by section, as specified in the Section Options dialog box).

•  assign the Outline Body Text feature (which performs the same function as the macro command mentioned above) to or any other available key combination. See here for information on assigning features to such shortcut keys. (Note that this feature is found under the “Insert” feature category drop list when you edit the keyboard definition.)

Sequences whose elements are related to the previous elements in a straightforward way are often defined using recursion. This is in contrast to the definition of sequence elements as a function of their position.

If you are working in with chapters in an InDesign book file, and the second and subsequent chapters don’t reset the Subhead 1 and Subhead 2 numbers, return to those chapters and choose Type > Bullets & Numbering > Define Lists > [Your list name] > Edit and uncheck Continue Numbers from Previous Document in Book.

  1. I am trying to use mailmerge to print tickets. I tried using a column of sequential numbers on a spreadsheet and inserting that as a field into the mailmerge, but oddly, it used number 8 eight times on the first page, number 16 eight times on the second page, etc. So, I tried using a sequencing field as you describe. It worked great for the first page (numbers 1-8) but when I completed the mailmerge, it repeated numbers 1-8 on each successive sheet. What do I have to do to make this work in a mailmerge?
In calculus, it is common to define notation for sequences which do not converge in the sense discussed above, but which instead become and remain arbitrarily large, or become and remain arbitrarily negative. If a n {displaystyle a_{n}} becomes arbitrarily large as n → ∞ {displaystyle nto infty } , we write
To select outline numbering without changing the formatting of the paragraph, make sure that you select an outline numbered list that is not linked to the Heading Styles feature. Microsoft strongly recommends using numbering that is linked to styles. For more information on using styles in Word, see the Styles chapter.
