Yes, the controlsource of Sequence is Sequence. I’m not getting any errors, just isn’t populating Sequence at all. I also tried making the controlsource the Sequence field in tblLogRecords, but that didn’t work either and gave me “#Name?” in the form.

•  assign the Outline Body Text feature (which performs the same function as the macro command mentioned above) to or any other available key combination. See here for information on assigning features to such shortcut keys. (Note that this feature is found under the “Insert” feature category drop list when you edit the keyboard definition.)

On my website below (link at bottom), I have all my photos watermarked for obvious reasons, this is done by a normal batch convert action using CS2,the gallery is actually a modified Photoshop “Simple” type of thing.

A very common usage for the Print Merge function in CorelDRAW is for adding numbers to tickets or invoices. Unfortunately it can be a bit of a hassle to create the list of numbers. When you have multiple tickets on a single printed sheet, it becomes even more complex as you want each stack of tickets to be in numerical order.

Ugh okay though the number shows up when I move or type in another field (First_name field) than clicking generate. When I click generate it doesn’t give the number. how can i fix it? here’s what I did:

This is how I see it. A person (passenger) makes a reservation. If the person has never made a reservation before, then they are added to the passenger table, But it really makes no sense to assign a sequential number to the passenger. Otherwise, an entry, just needs to be made in the reservations table. The Reservation needs to include the specific train (number and date so there should be a table for train schedules so all you need is a foreign key), the passenger and date of travel. Here I can understand wanting a sequential number to show passengers booked in a day.

Open Publisher and click the “More Categories” file folder in the bottom right of the “Available Templates” screen. Scroll to the bottom of the list and double-click one of the options in the “Tickets” section. After a few moments, a sheet of tickets will open in the Publisher workspace.

In this format, ident is replaced with a unique identifier for the sequence in question. Thus, you could have several sequences in a single document. For instance, one numbered sequence could use an identifier of MajorNum1, and another use an identifier of MajorNum2. The identifiers you use are entirely up to you.

If you want to add more lines of text under the first line of a numbered paragraph and you would like to line the text up, one solution is to insert a line break. A line break gives you a new line without a new paragraph. In WordPerfect, this is called a soft return. To get a line break, press SHIFT+ENTER.

Thanks for this tip, it is close to what I need in my requirement specification – but my problem is that I need the (requirement-)numbers to be allocated once a requirement is defined, and then stay with that value ‘forever’, and at the same time be sure to have unique (requirement-)numbers.

Automatically generated bullet and number characters aren’t actually inserted in the text. Therefore, they cannot be found during a text search or selected with the Type tool unless you convert them to text. In addition, bullets and numbering don’t appear in the story editor window (except in the paragraph style column).

I’m trying to skip a couple numbers in the sequence. Is there an easy way to do that? I’m building an auction catalog with over 830 items but some of them aren’t going to be listed in the catalog. Is it just easier to restart numbering at that point? Thank you!

You can use the Customize button to modify the outline numbered lists to your specifications. When you modify a list, it changes that placeholder’s preset numbering format. This is how you save your customizations. You have seven presets and they are stored in the Registry key List Gallery Presets.

I want to have textbox with 2 columns with footnotes running across the bottom of those columns in one column. ID CS3 footnotes can’t handle this. So I have added fake footnote refs in the doc. using this idea. Now the footnotes themselves I can create in another text frame and use this idea again to create them and then manually place them at the bottom of the page. The only problem however with this is the FN options carrry across the whole doc. right? So even if I create a second doc for the footnotes themselves with different options and then later paste it into the main doc it’ll get messed up right?

•  Step 8. Now, test the results: Place the cursor at the end of the text in step 2 and press . This should insert a new step 3. Re-generate the references with the Reference Tools dialog’s Generate button or click on Tools, Reference, Generate. You should now see the following in the document text: “…see Steps 4 to 7”.

The printer’s key, also known as the number line, is a line of text printed on the copyright page (often the verso of the title page, especially in English-language publishing) of books, used to indicate the print run. Publishers began this convention about the middle of the 20th century.

Sequential numbering means that each printed piece will have a unique number printed on it within a range (for example 001-251). Sequential numbering may be used for such things as raffle tickets and membership cards.

(If the property bar is not visible see here.) Place the cursor in the list’s text — not inside any code — and click the button to enter a new value. This works best with standard, non-decimal paragraph number (or letter) schemes.

Tip: Normally, the visibility and printability are required to be enabled or disabled together. Remember, a visible layer will not print or export if the printability is disabled and a non-visible layer will print and export if the printability is enabled.

And just like magic, the entire column will automatically fill with neat serial numbers. Instead of creating a bullet list, the option will fill sequential numbers in table column. Now you can enjoy your coffee break!

Ok I have a logbook tracking data base. I am trying use a field that has the 8 type of books but each book has its own 4 digit number sequence. I am trying to find a way to give me the next number base on the “prefix”.

As for that error, you need to find what line of code is generating it. If the error message has a Debug choice use it to see what line of code. If not, you need to step through the code to see where it errors out.

Hello Nikoforos, welcome to GS.DE and thanks for your answer. Although your answer is very creative, and a good workaround for people who need sequential numbers inside an AI file, it doesn’t really answer the question. The OP is asking for a technique to add a number to a static document at the time of printing. – PieBie Mar 4 ’16 at 8:42

I’ve even tried adding the procedure to the OpenDate_AfterUpdate field instead of with the save record control, but I can’t seem to get it to work either. The only thing that shows up in the RecordNumber field is “13” unless I manually populate the Sequence field (which misses the whole point).

When you use the sequence field, and then combine it with the AutoText capabilities of Word, you have a powerful combination for creating numbered lists in your documents. As an example of how you can do this, follow these steps:

Note: As you drag the fill handle across each cell, Excel displays a preview of the value. If you want a different pattern, drag the fill handle by holding down the right-click button, and then choose a sequential numbering in word Renumber/Refresh List toolbar command is used to renumber an existing numbered list or to refresh a list after editing. For example if item 3. is deleted from a list by editing then you can use this tool to refresh the list. You can also use the Renumber/Refresh command to number or renumber a selection of list paragraphs with any chosen starting number.

As you can see, the sequence name can be most anything (e.g. mySeq, A, B, or Bob’s_your_uncle). If you start a sequence with a new sequence name the numbering restarts with 1. Look at Mary’s first chore in the right hand column. Here you see the reset switch \r1 was used. This switch directs Word to restart the sequence named “A” with “1” at this point.

First, you need to enter the TransactionDate first. You can’t generate the Sequence until a TransactionDate is entered. Second, you are missing a line of code. In the blog I emphasize that you have to commit the record immediately after generating the sequence. So you need that second line: Me.Dirty=False after the code you have.

It makes me think there’s an issue with the spaces I have used in my field names but I have been trying every combination of double quotes and square brackets and when writing the code in the Event Procedure I don’t get any error messages.

Finally, you said: “I’m not sure how the display would work as far as searching for specific Artifact IDs in the future.”. This will not be a problem. The best solution is to use a combobox to select the Artifact ID. The relevant properties of that combo would be:

To create the inline numbering sequence, copy the code and the surrounding parentheses. Position the cursor where you want to continue the sequence within your text and press [Ctrl]+V. Figure C shows the result of pasting several throughout the paragraph. At this point, they all display 1.

2. Yes, The code should be entered using CodeBuilder. Where you enter it depends on how and when you want to trigger the generation of the next number. If you want to use a button, that works. And no, you don’t use 000 in the NZ() function. If you want to DISPLAY at least 3 digits with leading zeros, then you do that in the Format function. Note, though, you will need to change that when you hit 1000 POs.

The way Word has constructed paragraph numbering—a twisted combination of fields and styles—makes it difficult to customize numbering to your preferences and easy to screw up somewhere along the way. If you are going to use Word’s native paragraph numbering, you will want to be armed with basic knowledge and some snafu-busting techniques.1

First, you have to use YOUR field and control names. The ones I use are samples. The error you are getting indicated you do not have a control named txtProject. So you have to substitute the correct name of the control. bound to the ProjectID field. By the way it is not a good idea to the octothorpe(#) as part of a field name. A controlname may be different from a fieldname. The name property of a control is on the Other tab in the Properties dialog.

◦ For Number outline items of a different Number outline style, choose “Start new outline list,” then apply the new numbering style. In Reveal Codes, you probably will want to delete the [Para Num Set] code in front of the inserted outline items so that numbering resumes properly after the newly inserted number outline.

The next step is to create the simple Excel workbook that contains the ticket numbers. Open a blank Excel sheet. Using Figure B as a guide, create the ticket numbering sheet and save it, making sure to note the new workbook’s name and location. As we discussed earlier, the Excel workbook stores the ticket numbers. In this example, we’ll create 11 tickets numbered 100 through 110. You’ll need to update the ticket values for each merge.

I’m creating a maintenance work-order system for a commercial property management company and need each work order to be sequentially numbered automatically upon opening. I’ve tried creating a field which ties to an original source document using the following:

Thank you for your reply.  It reassured me that I was on the right path. From having read other Help texts, I guessed that I would have to use good ole mail-merge and set up a numbers list in Excel. Luckily my knowledge of Excel was good enough to know about the drag&drop for sequential immediate numbering. When it came to the crunch, it was this particular type of mail merge which gave me a bit of initial difficulty. Despite sequential numbering in indesign having used it happily and often in Word, for labels in Publisher, it was – not surprisingly – different in certain respects; principally the crucial point of the Print stage, which necessitated finding the option Publications & Paper Settings, and selecting 2 specific parameters, namely (1) Multiple pages per sheet,  (2) Single-sided printing (my default double printing had appeared). Once I’d sussed this, it was plain sailing.  Thanks again.

Well, not all is lost. You can do the fottnotes in another Doc and then cut and paste the Textframe and it will RETAIN the the options set in the original doc and not be affected by the settings of the doc it was pasted into. I wish I had the time (and brains) to make something that would automate this…sigh

Note: This trick seems to work only with the Legal (“decimal”), multi-level outlines and not to other multi-level outlines. If you use other, non-Legal multi-level outlines you can set the paragraph number to the expected value (e.g., “2”) and get the desired result.

You won’t use any of the standard List Number styles for SEQ field numbering. You need to create your own style if you want correct indentation and alignment with the tab position of the first word after the number. In this example, I’ll create a new style called Step Number, but you can call it whatever you want. In this example, I’ve also used the default settings for tab and hanging indent positions — you can change these later if you want.

I know that I can select all of the clips and then move the play head to approx 1/10 of a second and split the clips. This works except I have to go through and manually delete the bits I don’t want which is tedious enough for a video with 82 images but I am planning on longer projects, doing it manually would be a nightmare. Also I could probably re-order the images manually but I am sure that there must be an easier.

I currently have a LISP routine that will replace the value of a specific attribute name with sequential numbers in the order that the blocks are selected. Like TCOUNT for attributes – and it only looks for a specific attribute Tag Name called “ID”.

What I have is a document that prints business cards on business card sheets so to speak. So the page has 2 columns and 5 rows, so 10 business cards. I am using it to print coupons and would like to add a coupon code to each card. I want it to say start at 1000 and count up.

Using Microsoft PowerPoint’s numerous formatting tools can significantly improve the quality of your business presentation. Sequentially numbered lists can help you more effectively organize the information on a slide. In addition to illustrating the required order of list items, a numbered list can help you visually break up large chunks of information, making it easier for your audience members to identify key points as you speak. Creating a numbered list in PowerPoint requires only a few clicks.

If the Database Engine stops abnormally for an event such as a power failure, the sequence restarts with the number read from system tables (39). Any sequence numbers allocated to memory (but never requested by a user or application) are lost. This functionality may leave gaps, but guarantees that the same value will never be issued two times for a single sequence object unless it is defined as CYCLE or is manually restarted.

Life is too short to spend it on tedious tasks. To learn how the pros work with InDesign, check out Technology for Publishing’s Using Adobe InDesign CC 2018 handbook. It provides great tips and best practices from years of experience helping clients streamline their templates and processes.

You can add a chapter number variable to your document. Like page numbers, chapter numbers can be updated automatically and formatted and styled as text. A chapter number variable is commonly used in documents that are part of a book. A document can have only one chapter number assigned to it; if you want to divide a single document into chapters, you can create sections instead.

When you use the sequence field, and then combine it with the AutoText capabilities of Word, you have a powerful combination for creating numbered lists in your documents. As an example of how you can do this, follow these steps:

Some sequential exits are renumbered (remaining sequential) due to added exits. For instance, the Hutchinson River Parkway in New York was renumbered so that its northernmost exit, 27, became 30. However, the Merritt Parkway, which continued the “Hutch”′s exit numbers in Connecticut, was not renumbered. This means the Route 120A interchange is numbered 27 in Connecticut and 30 in New York.

Enter the first portion of your numbered list and format it. For example, if your list has 17 items, and there is a heading after item 4, then you would enter the first four items in the numbered list.

The four templates with automatic serial numbering are quite nice and one of them will most likely be suitable for your needs. You can edit them as well. If you’re sequential numbering to do that, save the original template separately. Doing so will give you a fresh template, in case you need one.

I am printing many pages of tickets. Each page has 5 tickets and I would like to sequentially put a number on each ticket. Also, can the numbering not suppress the leading zeroes? Thanks.

A Sequence field tracks differently numbered lists within a document. Combining Sequence fields and AutoText entries give you a fast and easy way to insert Interrogatories, Requests for Production, and Requests for Admission.

Manually type in the delimiter (the period in this case) in “Enter formatting for number,” Then click on “Number style for this level”.  Select the desired format for Heading 2.  I use number.number, but you can use any other format.

Publisher doesn’t have its own auto-number feature. Although it is possible to produce automatic numbering, database/mail merge or a macro, a specially coded program is required and may take far more time than simply setting up the tickets and typing in their numbers.

Ordinarily I don’t like using the Variant type because it’s wasteful of memory and encourages sloppy programming. But the way this macro uses it — as a string when dealing with the PrivateProfileString, and as an integer when doing arithmetic — makes it necessary.

I’m trying to make a sequential numbering system where if I enter a number in one text layer, the other numbers will add by +1 date sequentially to all the other boxes. Am I able to do this in Photoshop, Indesign or in Illustrator?

Joshua, I described this problem in my post #5 — the footnote settings are doc-global. I know no present solution to your problem — which is why we still need Adobe to code a counter! And we also need to be able to set up footnotes which are frame-wide, not just column-wide. And, natch, we need headings which are frame-wide, spanning multiple columns — so the ID engineers can’t retire quite yet. 🙂

I would like to restore the elided content, but will not do so as long as you feel this is somehow a copy.  However, if you do feel this way, I am curious on what grounds you feel it is indeed a copy.

A common question I’ve received has to do with sequential numbering. People often want to use some identifier for their records that involves information about the record and a sequential number. Sometimes these numbers are sequential throughout the table, other times the sequence is specific to other criteria.

I have drawings specifically named and need them in separate PDF files but need to insert a number in each pdf file that is sequential. Is there a way to add a sequential number to multiple pdf files. Each PDF file needs to remain as a separate file with the original file name. In past projects I have added the numbers as a comment, to ach pdf file, but it makes the files quite large.

As you’ve seen, the identifier is built using other data besides the sequence number. Since this other data is a part of the record, you don’t want to store this identifier since that means storing the same data twice. That’s why we use an expression to display the identifier rather than store it.

¤  With this method, the Outline property bar might only be visible when the cursor is on the same line as the number. In normal outlines, the Outline property bar will be visible when the cursor is anywhere in an outline level’s text. (N.B.: If you cannot see the property bar at all, it might have been hidden: see here.)

I replied to you on the Answers forum. Let’s continue there, but I need to know what you have done and what about is not working. Please reply there with details. But the blog instructions are pretty specific, if you follow them with the only changes substituting your actual field and control names, then it should work.

You’ll need to merge two documents: the Publisher document, or ticket, and an Excel workbook that contains the numbers you want to use to number those tickets. Please don’t let the term mail merge intimidate you. Merging a Publisher document to generate sequential numbers is easy.

If the cache option is enabled without specifying a cache size, the Database Engine will select a size. However, users should not rely upon the selection being consistent. Microsoft might change the method of calculating the cache size without notice.

You can control whether your next paragraph number continues the current sequence or starts again at 1 within that same right-click menu. If one of your numbers gets out of sequence, simply right-click and choose Continue Numbering. If you want to force the number back to the beginning (say, you’re switching from interrogatories to requests for production), choose Set Numbering Value (which will also give you the option of continuing the previous list).

While I’m commenting, let me ask something…I have the pdf of the InDesgin Help on my computer and I adore the formatting. The whitespace and fonts are perfect and so eacy on the eye. Would it be possible for someone to please send me exactly what’s in that template so I don’t have to figure it out myself? Please pass on my compliments to the designer!

Thank you for these instructions!! I’m using them to auto number my son’s baseball team raffle tickets which we hand numbered last year (UGH!). I’m using Word on a PC. Thanks!!

The Section Numbers will work fine for [multi-page exhibits]. You just insert Section Breaks wherever the change in exhibit numbers occurs. For example, if you have four exhibits, some with multiple pages:

Got it to work! I modified my spreadsheet and added a header row with the words “Ticket Number” in field A1. Then I left the checkbox checked when I imported the spreadsheet to Word. That seemed to make it happy. THANK YOU!! This was so helpful!!

When you use text outline styles Insert, Outline…, Text) the Outline Property Bar displays on screen, which lets you expand, contract, promote, demote, move up/down, etc., so you have an automatic outline to work with, not just a fancy style.

To end the list (or list segment, if the list is to be continued later in the story), click the Bulleted List or Numbered List button in the Control panel again, or choose Bullets And Numbering from the Paragraph panel menu.

When you are ready to restart numbering, you can use the technique above, or you can place your cursor inside a numbered paragraph above, click the Format Painter (the paintbrush icon on the Home tab under Clipboard), then click on the sequential numbering in word where you want to restart numbering. Using Format Painter this way solves several paragraph numbering problems (the number sequence, indents, and inter-paragraph spacing) simultaneously.

QuickBullets automatically uses WordPerfect’s Outline feature by calling up an outline style that was chosen in Insert, Outline/Bullets & Numbering (i.e., the various outline styles that create automatic outline numbering or bullets).

Multi-page jobs – certain objects that are required to appear and print on all pages and some which are different and need to appear only on individual pages, for example, a wall calendar. The mast head will be common to all pages but the dates will change on each page.

For example, the sequence a n = n + 1 2 n 2 {\displaystyle a_{n}={\frac {n+1}{2n^{2}}}} shown to the right converges to the value 0. On the other hand, the sequences b n = n 3 {\displaystyle b_{n}=n^{3}} (which begins 1, 8, 27, …) and c n = ( − 1 ) n {\displaystyle c_{n}=(-1)^{n}} (which begins -1, 1, -1, 1, …) are both divergent.

This kind of template is very easy and fast for creating a multitude of serialized tickets. You don’t have to change each number or manually update each field. That’s far too tedious. The lottery might be over before you’re done.

“sequential numbering python arcgis _how to put sequence number in word”

Word allows you to automatically number items in your document. For instance, you can automatically number figures, tables, or illustrations. If you later reorder these items, Word automatically updates the numbers so they are in order. To sequentially number items in your text, follow these steps:

Notice here that we need to surround CaseNumber with Single quotes since it’s a Text datatype. As in the other scenarios, The NZ function automatically restarts the sequence when a new CaseNumber is used. In this scenario we would want to check whether the CaseNumber has been entered before generating the sequence.

Sequence fields are the first method that Word developed for automatic numbering and, in the words of John McGhie, the most robust. They are virtually unbreakable. Here is a link to the Microsoft Office reference page for them in Word 2010. As far as I know, the syntax and the switches have remained unchanged since before Windows.

If you’re a self-taught InDesign user, you may not have been introduced to automatic page numbering, one of the biggest time-saving features in the program. InDesign allows you to set up the page numbering feature in your Master Pages. Then, as you add or shuffle pages, InDesign updates individual page numbers accordingly. You can style the page number any way you like.

Finally, though it won’t be required, having a ORDER BY clause is probably going to be very essential. Without an explicit sort applied to query, you might find that sequential numbers are sequential… but to the wrong rows! It’s entirely up to you to define how it should be sorted so the sequential numbers make http://sl-inworld.com the exhibits are in their own document, and you can break the pages between exhibits with Next Page Section Breaks rather than ordinary Page Breaks and are using Arabic numerals (1, 2, etc.) to number the exhibits, you could use the Section Field Code to increment the number. …

Try clicking on one of the icons that demonstrates one of the outline styles, then click OK. Type some text, hit , type some more, hit etc. (When you are inside the outline, notice the property bar that appears.)

Zoom into the tickets where you have placed the text for the numbering and click on the data merge palette. This should be open already since we already called in the data file in Step 11. Place the text cursor behind the last letter of your text. Then click on the text data file (100.txt) in the Data Merge Palette.

Ok, so what don’t you understand in the blog? You will need to create a new field for the sequence number. But the blog explains how to set this all up. If there is anything specific you are having trouble with, feel free to ask.

I know that PrintShopMail will do it, but I was wandering if there was a less expensive solution out there so that I could get numbered tickets (usually 4-up) right off the Xerox. I just want to avoid having to go the the Windmill after trimming and doing it the old fashion way. There is a tiny little copy shop here in town that is doing it, and am willing to bet that they are not using PrintShopMail, but I’m also not going to ask them to share their methods with a competitor. There has to be cheaper solution. I know that I can do it with auto page numbering in Indesign, but that means I can only print raffle tickets 1-up which wont work.

I’m trying to create vouchers in Publisher with sequential numbers. I’m printing multiple ones per page. However, when I add in insert page number it adds a 1 to all of them. I need to be able to print out 1-24,000. Please help. Thanks.

Note: This trick seems to work only with the Legal (“decimal”), multi-level outlines and not to other multi-level outlines. If you use other, non-Legal multi-level outlines you can set the paragraph number to the expected value (e.g., “2”) and get the desired result.

Use the Bullet or Number Position section of the New Paragraph Style dialog box to change the indent spacing. For example, to create a hanging indent, type 2p for Left Indent and ‑2p for First Line Indent.

After SQL Server restarts and a sequence number is needed, the starting number is read from the system tables (23). The cache amount of 15 numbers (23-38) is allocated to memory and the next non-cache number (39) is written to the system tables.

•  Step 7. Click OK twice to return to your document. The first outline number should the on screen. Simply type in some text and press the key. A small check box should appear to the right of your text. Each time you press the enter key a new outline number will appear along with the small check box.

Transliteration consists of removing all of the letters, and substituting them with their appropriate numerical counterparts. These numerical alternatives (based on IBM’s EBCDIC) are in the following chart. I, O, and Q are not allowed in a valid VIN; for this chart, they have been filled in with N/A (not applicable). Numerical digits use their own values.

If you look back at the comments above, there’s a possible solution to your request in the June 24, 2011 question by Anthony (and my response) and the April 17, 2013 question by Nayana (and my response).

Whether you’re prepping for a concert, a school play, a sports event or another show, tickets help you control the crowd and keep track of an audience. Instead of buying generic tear-off tickets from a store, design custom tickets in Microsoft Publisher, the Microsoft Office suite’s desktop-publishing layout and design program. With a couple of quick clicks, you’ll have a way to create tickets in a specific order, which may be “just the ticket” for your event.

An InDesign document can only have one chapter, and these chapters are typically combined in an InDesign book. To insert a chapter number, create a text frame where you want the chapter number to appear on either a document or master page. Click on the “Type” menu, then “Text Variables,” “Insert Text Variable” and then “Chapter Number.” Update the chapter number if necessary to keep your chapter numbers consecutive by clicking on “Numbering & Section Options” in the Layout menu.

By omitting the dbFailOnError parameter only for the DROP TABLE statement, we won’t get a runtime error about a table not existing but get runtime errors if we can’t create the table or insert data for some reasons. I’m also not a big fan of creating multiple saved queries that are meant to be logically grouped together – it gets quite cluttered when there are several saved queries in a navigation pane like that. Keeping it all in VBA makes it clearer that the intention is to execute those statements together.

Sequential/Serial numbering is available on many products such as business cards, flyers, and posters (at an additional cost) but can only be done with our Digital Output printing service (not available with Offset Output). This service is not included as standard on our products and requires a Custom Print Quote.

The addition of the \r1 switch causes Word to start the sequence counter over at 1. You would use this whenever you wanted to start a new list, and use the regular field for the rest of your numbered items. (If you want to start the list over at a number other than 1, use the starting number right after \r.)

simple programme for consecutive numbering of forms while digitally printing? e.g. adding consecutive numbers to a batch of pre-printed invoice sets.  One original, but numbers on it increasing or decreasing as they are printed.

For whatever reason, AllExperts did not let me post a direct reply to your response re: “Ok, what is the ControlSource of the Fixture Number control? It should be: =cboZone & “-” & Format(Me.FNumber,”000″)” and adding “Me.Refresh” to my code (within the last 10 minutes). It just had the “rate this reply”. I added the Me.Refresh and corrected my location of the =cboZone code and it works correctly now.

I am trying to use mailmerge to print tickets. I tried using a column of sequential numbers on a spreadsheet and inserting that as a field into the mailmerge, but oddly, it used number 8 eight times on the first page, number 16 eight times on the second page, etc. So, I tried using a sequencing field as you describe. It worked great for the first page (numbers 1-8) but when I completed the mailmerge, it repeated numbers 1-8 on each successive sheet. What do I have to do to make this work in a mailmerge?

The second step is to create the required number of master layers by clicking the New Master Layer button (see Figure 1, item #5) in the Object Manager docker. Master layers will appear on all pages of your design. Then, create the required number of layers by clicking the New Layer button (see Figure 1, item #4).

There are three issues common to all three http://thedailyrant.net First, the sequential number is stored separately in the table as an Integer datatype (might need Long Integer). Second, the DMax function is used to  determine the last number used. Third, the number needs to be generated immediately prior to saving  the record.

Continue in this pattern anytime you need to enter inline numbers. Use the reset SEQ field to start a sequence. Follow the reset field with the incrementing SEQ field, as shown in Figure K. You can enter as many incrementing fields as you like. The field is smart enough to continue incrementing until you enter a new reset field.

Unlike identity columns values that are generated when rows are inserted, an application can obtain the next sequence number without inserting the row by calling the NEXT VALUE FOR function. Use sp_sequence_get_range to get multiple sequence numbers at once.

A Cauchy sequence is a sequence whose terms become arbitrarily close together as n gets very large. The notion of a Cauchy sequence is important in the study of sequences in metric spaces, and, in particular, in real analysis. One particularly important result in real analysis is Cauchy characterization of convergence for sequences:

I am curently working on a larger projekt, where we have aprox. 4500 pcs.of furnituer designed in 4 different kind of families, generic, furnituer, furnituer systems and specialty equipment. We need to be able to asign every  pcs.of funituer a seqventual serial number, we have tried to do this using an extension with a funktion called element positionerning, but we have had no success with this tool, apparently it is taking up to much memory.

In Part I, I covered how to create a traditional outline list. Now I’m going to walk through the steps of creating a multi-level list frequently used in academic papers, user guides, and military documents.

This is it. In my queries and reports I can rank students according to their performance. How then can I add a number to show the rank? The top student can be seen but I’d like to put a column showing the Number 1… last.

•  Note that the tally is simply the last number in the sequence of paragraph numbers. No actual mathematical operation takes place. Hence the recommendation to place the [Target] code outside of the last [Para Style] code in the outline, in case you want to add more paragraphs to the outline.

I have Office 2003 installed to Windows 2003 terminal servers but I have a problem with on of our users and excel. The issue is that when the user is trying to have multiple spreadsheets opened he keeps getting the message “This operations has been cancelled due to system restrictions- Contact your system Administrator” I can find no setting in excel to enforce a limit on the number of speadsheets a user can have open. Thanks in advance fo any advise Michael Not an expert in these matters, but; Is it possible that the user is trying to initiate another session of Excel vs….

Make a FreeForm master of the file without the numbers then use Mail Merge in MS Word along with an Excel file (with your numbers) and create a file with just the numbers and let the Fiery do the rest.

The first setting, under Display on the left, instructs Word to always update any field values before printing a document. The second, under Advanced, will always display fields on the screen with shading so you can always see, at a glance, which items are just text and which are fields.

GREAT tip with lots of uses! Thank you. This will save me hours of work on some tickets I’m designing. However, I also need to set up table tents that have numbers on them. They’re 2-up, and are folded, so each number needs to appear twice on the same page. In short, I want a page with 1/1 and 2/2, and I’m getting 1/2 and 3/4. Am I missing an obvious fix? Thank you.

Clicked standard Mac Office upgrade yesterday, now Entourage is disabled because of message the reads This installation of Microsoft Office X exceeds the number of installations permitted by the license agreement. User name is already using this installation of Microsoft Office X. The program will now quit. I have MS Office package with 3 product keys. I’m using my laptop now, but originally it was installed on my primary desktop Mac. What’s the solution to this problem? SHould I be concerned about preserving my emails — on Entourage, if I need to reload software? Please advise….

As you’ve seen, the identifier is built using other data besides the sequence number. Since this other data is a part of the record, you don’t want to store this identifier since that means storing the same data twice. That’s why we use an expression to display the identifier rather than store it.

I have screen shots of what I have in my db, where can I send it to you (it is in word format) so that you can take a look at it to see what I am doing wrong. I took a screen shot of what is listed for the button and I took a screen shot of the text box Job No. I don’t know how to bound anything other than put the code behind the button and putting the http://sl-inworld.com in the code as you stated. I understand what you are saying, but I thought if I put the text box name Job No in the code behind the button then it would be bound to my table with the Job No field. Heeeelllllppppp!!!! I am sorry that I can’t seem to grasp this….but appreciate all of your help!

I had the same problem and found out the same thing, that it’s the order of creation that seem to govern the lists numerical order. It felt intuitive that the order in the layer-panel should be where this could be managed, although perhaps there’s some reason for why that isn’t a good idea that I havn’t thought of.

The Nz function will return 0 if there are no records so this expression will return a 1 the first time and then increment the highest number each additional time. The key is where to put this line of code. As I said it needs to be generated immediately prior to saving the record so that another user does not get the same number. So generally I would put this behind a Save button or a button to specifically generate the number. I would then add a second line to commit the records. Either:

A sequential numbering system typically assigns the next available or lowest unused integer as the ID Number of a new asset. Unlike an ID number assigned by an “intelligent numbering system it does not describe the asset in any way.

The Fibonacci sequence can be defined using a recursive rule along with two initial elements. The rule is that each element is the sum of the previous two elements, and the first two elements are 0 and 1.

Ah, the document sequencing, the audit thingy. What is the purpose of giving a sequence to the transactions or the documents that you create? Well it has been a practice to assign the number to anything which occurs more than once, by numbering them you can identify the order of its generation. It acts like a chain and if a number goes missing, the link is broken and you can see that there was a deletion or removal of the transaction. Sequence numbering can also be seen in our business processes like organization assign employee number or employee code to their employees in order to identify them. Our vehicles have registration numbers. Even the database have a number primary key for the records it holds. BUT that is just to uniquely identify them. Here the purpose of sequencing is to maintain the Audit Trial of the transaction or as Oracle says in its documentation, to maintain the completeness of the transaction.

As is the case with an outline list, you need to define a list and then create a set of paragraph styles that reference that list. Defining lists allows you to have multiple lists in a document that don’t interfere with each other. For example, you could create multi-level headings, an outline, and separate lists of tables and figures within the same document, all of which use a separate numbering sequence.

On the other hand, there are some disadvantages to changing from a sequential system. Suffixes are required when the same mile of highway contains multiple exits. Businesses and motorists have to adapt to the changes, and it costs money to replace the signs (as well as for temporary “old exit” tabs to ease the transition). Additionally, some argue that in the currently unlikely event the United States embarks on a metrication conversion, roads and exits would have to be re-numbered and re-measured anew. Ontario’s Highway 401 changed to a mile-based system from a sequential system of exit numbers, then had to switch again to a kilometre-based system when Canada metricated in 1977.

See attached. I’ve replaced your manual numbering with Word’s Heading Styles using multi-level list numbering. Adding a new row to the table will result in that row’s numbering incrementing. Changing the heading level will re-set the numbering accordingly.

A sequence of real numbers ( a n ) {\displaystyle (a_{n})} converges to a real number L {\displaystyle L} if, for all ε > 0 {\displaystyle \varepsilon >0} , there exists a natural number N {\displaystyle N} such that for all n ≥ N {\displaystyle n\geq N} we have[2]

Both the Collection Point ID and Artifact ID fields are bound properly and display those exact names in the property sheet under both control source and name. On the save button I have on the form, when I click on the event tab and the on click option I have event procedure and I click the […] option to open up the code builder and this is what I currently have:

When you are ready to restart numbering, you can use the technique above, or you can place your cursor inside a numbered paragraph above, click the Format Painter (the paintbrush icon on the Home tab under Clipboard), then click on the line where you want to restart numbering. Using Format Painter this way solves several paragraph numbering problems (the number sequence, indents, and inter-paragraph spacing) simultaneously.

If you are thinking of using sequential numbering, please give our printing experts a call for helpful advice on how to best set up your artwork. We offer ready to use templates for the most common types of forms including invoice templates, statement templates, work order templates and purchase order templates. Just upload your logo and contact information and let us know how you would like to number your forms.

Note that if you have manually insert incrementing numbers using the Insert Paragraph Number method (, as described below) the Outline property bar might only be visible when the cursor is on the same line as the number. On the other hand, if you used a standard Outline the property bar should be visible when the cursor is anywhere inside an outline level’s paragraph text. (N.B.: If you cannot see the property bar at all, it might have been hidden accidentally: see here.)

On to Subhead 2. This one looks exactly like the settings for Subhead 1, but the level is now 3, and the number style “^H.^2.^3^t” is now calling in the level 3 number, i.e., “1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, etc.”

After the { SEQ € \r68}, insert just the { SEQ € } fields where you need them for the sequential numbering. If you copy and paste one of these fields, you’ll probably need to select in and press F9 to update it, or you could press Ctrl-A, F9 to update all fields in the document – useful if you’ve added/deleted one in an existing sequence or if you’re adding multiple such fields.

☼  You can press to insert a line break; this will start a new unbulleted paragraph under the previous bulleted one (press to resume automatic bulleting). This is a good way to gather several paragraphs under a single bullet item.

It depends what the design is for the tickets. But if you set up primary text frames, linked for the area for the numbers, you can create a numbered list with the numbering format you want. Then, just pour in a whole load of paragraph returns that have that numbered list applied. And make sure each numbered paragraph is set to start in the next column.

Automatically generated bullet and number characters aren’t actually inserted in the text. Therefore, they cannot be found during a text search or selected with the Type tool unless you convert them to text. In addition, bullets and numbering don’t appear in the story editor window (except in the paragraph style column).

I’m producing gift certificates for a restaurant and they need to be numbered sequentially from 0001 to 0250. Is there any way to do this easily as opposed to numbering each manually? I’m sure I could probably work it out with a print shop, but the job was thrust on me last minute and my options are limited by the short turn around time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!…

While InDesign veterans may assume everyone already knows this, I can assure you I have worked with very sophisticated documents from designers who did not take advantage of this basic feature. A good rule of thumb to keep in mind as you tackle InDesign challenges is this: If it’s repetitious, tedious, or time-consuming, there’s probably a built-in solution right there in the program. You just need to go look for it.
