Open Word and create a new document and create one raffle ticket. You want to make it about the right size so that you can fit four tickets on the page. Leave space for the ticket numbers, which you’ll add in a minute. Something like this:
You’re here because you are trying to do something good for someone in need. The world could use a few more people like you. Yet fund raising, even on a small scale, still takes a lot of work. If you’ve decided a raffle is the way to go, we’re here to help.
In some cases the elements of the sequence are related naturally to a sequence of integers whose pattern can be easily inferred. In these cases the index set may be implied by a listing of the first few abstract elements. For instance, the sequence of squares of odd numbers could be denoted in any of the following ways.
☼ Generally, it is easier (and possibly more reliable) to insert a few bullet outline items inside another outline style if you (1) type the primary outline first, then (2) go back and select the items you want bulleted, and then (3) apply the Bullet outline style (with Insert, Outline/Bullets…,) to just those selected items as explained in the above paragraphs.
Tags for EPUB and HTML: Any list paragraph will be exported as list entry upon export as EPUB or HTML. Numbers become ol tags, bullets become ul tags. I would recommend to set up the export tagging as ”[Automatic]” and specify a CSS tag. Include it once in the CSS output.
Now Cir2 will be the circle immediately to the right of Cir 1, and will start at 4043. The same circle on page 2 will be 4044, page 3 same circle will be 4045, etc. Cir3 will start at 4084 and end at 4126, etc, etc, etc.
Press Ctrl+V for each additional row of labels you want. You want enough rows of labels to meet your entire needs. Thus, if you need a total of 125 labels, and you can get 3 labels per line, you should end up with 42 rows of labels.
The addition of the \r1 switch causes Word to start the sequence counter over at 1. You would use this whenever you wanted to start a new list, and use the regular field for the rest of your numbered items. (If you want to start the list over at a number other than 1, use the starting number right after \r.)
• You might want to create a new paragraph outline style especially for this purpose; see “Creating or modifying outlines.” Or, in Reveal Codes, you can just double-click the [Style] code in the numbered paragraph style to bring up the Styles Editor. Add a hard Back Tab to the beginning of the string of codes shown in the Contents field of the Styles Editor. [In the Editor: click Format, Paragraph, Back Tab.)
(2) Under the Feature Categories list, choose “Insert,” then scroll down in the Features list to “Outline Body Text,” select it, then click on “Add Button.” The new button should appear on the toolbar or property bar. (You can drag it to a new position.)
Thank you very much. I learnt number seq from here and applied it on my transport booking pad and this save me hours of work. Now can you please show me how to do something like 120/12, then 120/13, 120/14 and so on with seq.
(If you prefer using the keyboard, rather than the mouse, then do this instead of dragging down: select cell A2, hit CTRL+C to copy, then select cell A3 and use SHIFT+PageDown to select all the way down to row 500. Then hit CTRL+V to paste.)
I have screen shots of what I have in my db, where can I send it to you (it is in word format) so that you can take a look at it to see what I am doing wrong. I took a screen shot of what is listed for the button and I took a screen shot of the text box Job No. I don’t know how to bound anything other than put the code behind the button and putting the Job_No in the code as you stated. I understand what you are saying, but I thought if I put the text box name Job No in the code behind the button then it would be bound to my table with the Job No field. Heeeelllllppppp!!!! I am sorry that I can’t seem to grasp this….but appreciate all of your help!
CK Note: I strongly recommend reading the following article. It may save your sanity (or at least your job). See Word’s Numbering Explained by John McGhie. Somewhat easier reading and still very useful are Shauna Kelly’s articles (see above) on outline numbering and bullets.

InDesign has a robust set of numbering tools, but most users don’t do much more than set up basic numbered lists. Yesterday, in my Advanced Adobe InDesign class, a student asked how to number her chapters, subheads, tables and figures. It can be done, but isn’t covered in our workbook.
The territories of Yukon, Nunavut, and Northwest Territories use no exit numbers, as there are no freeways or expressways in the territories. Prince Edward Island has no exit numbers either, as there is only one interchange in the province.
With the field code highlighted, click the File tab and choose Options. In Office 2007, click the Office button and then click Word Options. In Word 2003, choose AutoCorrect Options from the Tools menu and skip to #6.

Since Word 2000 applies outline numbering by default, as you press TAB or SHIFT+TAB in a numbered list, you are moved to the next or previous outline level. If you are in a numbered list that has outline numbering generated by the method described in the previous exercise, when you choose Bullets and Numbering from the Format menu (or alternate-click a portion of the numbered list), the Numbered tab appears on the Bullets and Numbering dialog box. However, if you first select the entire list and choose Bullets and Numbering from the Format menu, the Outline Numbered tab from the Bullets and Numbering dialog box is selected.
My heart sinks. It’s indented at 0.63, hanging at 1.27cm, no tab stop. For crying out loud! Why does it work when I’ve got the actual Normal.dotm file open, but NOT when it generates a new document BASED on Normal.dotm?
• You can save customizations by simply creating a new custom Outline style that incorporates them. Then, once such a different outline numbering scheme is started in a document, it can be toggled on and off throughout the document in the manner described in the above section. Custom outline styles can be saved to the default template so they are available in all new documents based on that template.
Awhile back, there was an add-on for excel that had a lot more tools. It showed on the toolbar. Somehow I lost it and I would like to get it back. It had a lot of tools like for changing case and fill ins. Any help wouyld be great. Maybe ASAP Utilities. Try a ‘net search for this add-in. I would suggest you look to see that Automatic Page Numbering is selected in the Document Numbering Options dialog, which can be accessed from the Books Panel menu. You can then set the Book Numbering Options if you want the first page of your chapters to start on even or odd pages, etc.
Rhonda, Thank you for your amazingly quick and thorough reply! You are correct, Word does the Table and Figure numbering splendidly. I was trying to reference those numbers in the text, which I see is a function done quite well in Word using Cross Reference: ‘In Word 2007 and 2010: Display the References tab. In the Captions group, click on the Cross-reference button.’ Thanks again, Joshua.
I am trying to implement scenario 3 and can not get it to work. I created a button and put the code in the “on click” event procedure. I modified the code to work with my fields and tables. I also added the me.dirty = False and Me.Requery in an attempt to get things to work.
You can insert one or more unnumbered paragraphs of text under any outline number (or bullet) and maintain tabbed alignment by using a Line Break at the end of each inserted paragraph (
4. Select the Method. This is another interesting feature. It not the method of sequence generation but the method of document generation. For example, when you enter a http://thedailyrant.net voucher, it is a Manual method of document generation, but when you reverse the journal voucher, it is generated automatically. There are three options available here:
Ordinarily I don’t like using the Variant type because it’s wasteful of memory and encourages sloppy programming. But the way this macro uses it — as a string when dealing with the PrivateProfileString, and as an integer when doing arithmetic — makes it necessary.
Is there a way to sync callout numbers to correspond with note numbers. When I add or delete notes in my drawings it takes to much time to update the callout number in the drawings. I need to figure out a way for the note and corresponding callout to change at the same time.
Ah, the document sequencing, the audit thingy. What is the purpose of giving a sequence to the transactions or the documents that you create? Well it has been a practice to assign the number to anything which occurs more than once, by numbering them you can identify the order of its generation. It acts like a chain and if a number goes missing, the link is broken and you can see that there was a deletion or removal of the transaction. Sequence numbering can also be seen in our business processes like organization assign employee number or employee code to their employees in order to identify them. Our vehicles have registration numbers. Even the database have a number primary key for the records it holds. BUT that is just to uniquely identify them. Here the purpose of sequencing is to maintain the Audit Trial of the transaction or as Oracle says in its documentation, to maintain the completeness of the transaction.
