CK Note: Word 2007 – 2013 interface has an different automatic numbering scheme which I have been told is much less subject to corruption. Microsoft Word 2010 Bible by Herb Tyson, MVP. However numbering is still very imperfect in these later versions. I still recommend following Shauna Kelly’s step-by-step instructions (see above) if setting up numbering in a template or in a document likely to be heavily edited. If you start without doing this and end up with “spaghetti numbering,” fixing it will be a very large chore!
Sequences over a field may also be viewed as vectors in a vector space. Specifically, the set of F-valued sequences (where F is a field) is a function space (in fact, a product space) of F-valued functions over the set of natural numbers.
how to do sequential numbering in CorelDraw or is it even possible? From time to time we are required to produce items that have sequential numbering, say, from 1 to 200 for example. If it were only “one set” that would be no problem, but when it is 5, 10 or more sets then it is very time consuming.
You’re here because you are trying to do something good for someone in need. The world could use a few more people like you. Yet fund raising, even on a small scale, still takes a lot of work. If you’ve decided a raffle is the way to go, we’re here to help.
Type in a List Name. If you are going to be working with separate chapters in a book, uncheck Continue Numbers from Previous Document in Book. Click OK. (Note: you can update this dialog box after you have created your list via Type > Bullets & Numbering > Define Lists > [Your list name] > Edit.)
The first ten terms of this sequence are 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, and 34. A more complicated example of a sequence that is defined recursively is Recaman’s sequence. We can define Recaman’s sequence by
If necessary, create a text frame where you want a chapter number to appear. If you want a chapter number to appear on several pages, create the text frame on a master page, and apply that master page to the document pages.
WordTips is your source for cost-effective Microsoft Word training. (Microsoft Word is the most popular word processing software in the world.) This tip (1492) applies to Microsoft Word 97, 2000, 2002, and 2003. You can find a version of this tip for the ribbon interface of Word (Word 2007 and later) here: Sequentially Numbered Labels.

You can automatically number items in your document. Most of you already know this. You can also automatically number figures, tables, illustrations, etc. If you decide to reorder those items, Word will automatically update the numbers so that the are in the correct order.
In the past, I manually prepared a sheet of labels in Microsoft Word, but this was clumsy and time-consuming. Lately, however, I have used a very easy SEQ script that is already available in the program; I just didn’t know it was there.
I want to be able to associate and sequence bullets across rows. Using the example above, I want Col1 #1 to associate to Col2 a and Col3 i and ii. Then when I advance to Col2 b, I want Col3 to become i
Tip Microsoft strongly recommends that you link your numbering to styles. The importance of this will be very apparent during the Outline Numbered section. Also, there is more information on the importance of styles when working with numbering in the Styles chapter.
Once you’re sure that the legal bases are covered, you’ll want to be sure that your raffle tickets make running the show easy and successful. Printing your own tickets can help. It could save you money and it gives you complete control over how your tickets look.
I am using your instructions to create a page of tickets – the design has been created as a picture so I added a text box to “hold” the mail merge instructions but I keep getting the error message “You cannot include DATA, NEXT, NEXTIF, or SKIPIF fields in comments, headers, footers, footnotes or endnotes.” I have not included any of these but I’m wondering if it’s because I’ve attempted to insert it in a text box. Is there an easy way to do this? TIA
Not a chance—InDesign offers a number of improvements and surprises in the area of typesetting. It’s an evolutionary product—not a revolutionary one, but, on its release, InDesign became the best desktop typesetting program, and raised the bar for its competition.
On a master page, create a text box. rightclick/insert special character/markers/current page number (also under the type menu). Have your ticket image on the master page too, then just create x number pages for x number of tickets.
So, you’d have a text frame that you could start with 0 (not sure if it’d be hard to do 0000) and loop up to whatever you need, printing each time. I don’t know if you can avoid a print dialog, but if you can that should make this pretty seamless.
You cannot enter a blank space by pressing the spacebar—copy and paste a fixed-width space character from the document window instead. Note that plus (+) or comma (,) symbols cannot be used in section prefixes. (See Insert white space characters.)
A multi-level list is a list that describes hierarchical relationships between the list paragraphs. These lists are also called outline lists because they resemble outlines. The list’s numbering scheme (as well as indentations) show rank as well as how items are subordinate to one another. You can tell where each paragraph fits in the list with respect to the paragraphs before and after it. You can include up to nine levels in a multi-level list.
As is the case with an outline list, you need to define a list and then create a set of paragraph styles that reference that list. Defining lists allows you to have multiple lists in a document that don’t interfere with each other. For example, you could create multi-level headings, an outline, and separate lists of tables and figures within the same document, all of which use a separate numbering sequence.
