Sounds like you have put a “Next Record” field after the final ticket on each page. Because the final ticket is at the end of the page, the number will increment automatically at the end of a page. If you put a ‘Next’ field there too, you’ll jump two numbers. This issue is mentioned in Step 5 above, but maybe I should make it clearer.

Right now I’m making a straight sequence of numbers (two to a ticket). There are 3000 tickets (3001-6000 for an example) so my numbered list is double that since there are two to a ticket. Right now my flow is this:

David, I submitted that idea to the New Features ID page years ago. So far: Nada. I think it’s such an obvious little feature that it’s almost embarrassing to suggest it. I now leave this matter to Higher Powers with more clout in Adobian matters — like you and Anne-Marie. 🙂
The From and To numbers are set so the pages (and tickets) can be ordered correctly for cutting into books with consecutive ticket numbers. If you can’t get the exact end ticket number required, just select the nearest higher number, and only print required number form the print file.
I went through the video and everything worked perfectly. Thank you so much for this helpful video. However, I need to go back in a edit the size of overall format, to fit into a stock OfficeDepot template and add 500 numbers. It’s not happening,… is it not possible to edit after you have done the mailmerge? Do I have to start all over and create a new one?

The script sets the numbering of multiple gang up tickets so that after cutting the tickets do not need recollating to put back into order (like the CS2 script) but also does counterfoil numbers, prefixes, suffixes, leading zeros and output of pages in reverse order for ‘face up’ printing.
I normally use “Data Merge” in InDesign and use Excel (or something like it) to generate the list of numbers for me. You would copy the numbers into a text file so that InDesign can read them as the merge data source. Note that you would have one ticket on the page and then let InDesign set the other tickets on the page (you can tell the Data Merge control panel about spacing).
Different Colors or Size: Our standard tickets are printed in black ink on yellow 90 lb index card stock. They measure 2 1/8? by 5 1/2? with the stub 1 1/2? from the left. Once you’re finished with the design, go to the “Mailings” ribbon to start the mail merge. You’ll see that the “Update Labels” is grayed out. Change that by clicking on Start Mail Merge > Labels > Cancel.
It’s best to use something other than general copy paper when printing raffle tickets. Heavier weight paper, or even card stock, could be a better choice. Not only does it look more professional, but the tickets will tear off more easily along the perforation. Choose paper colors on the lighter end of the spectrum so that the template design shows up clearly when printed.
Drag a horizontal and vertical guide onto the page. Set them both to 1p6 (18pt). To align them select the guide with the selection Tool (V) and type the number into the X and Y tab. This will ensure that the guides are set to the exact number.
Hi – are you creating your own tickets using the instructions on this page? If so, you can of course change the font and everything else in your Word document. If you are using the Raffle Ticket Creator app (app.raffleticketcreator.com) then you can’t change the font size … you’ll just need to tinker with the exact words that you are including in order to get them to fit on the page. is that it does number properly. If you select ‘8 up’ the number file created is suitable to text merge into InDesign so that after cutting the eight stacks of tickets can be effectively placed one upon each other and the numbering holds.
One of my templates is only $25 so for any shop that just wants to boost production on a small item that doesn’t really make much profit, it’s a good solution and all the work is already done for them.
I would like to create raffle tickets. On MS it says to download the template for Avery 5371. Okay, did that. Now how do I continue that so the numbers come out in sequence correctly? The Bullet and numbering list is suitable for the “Transform” tool, combinated with Move+Copy+ the calculated distance and then just aplly the Cmd/Ctrl + Alt+3 for the “Transform again” tool. This is wonderful. It`a like the “Apply Duplicate” command in Corel Draw, but raffle ticket numbering in indesign powerful.
