We used to be able to setup the quick print option for picking tickets to allow bin sequence. Now when you pull up quick print setup bin sequenced is greyed out. If you had is setup before and you attempt to change it, bin sequenced goes from available to non available (greyed out). We have never used the advanced picking setup option. We can do bin sequenced when printing the long way…Apparantly you have to have advanced picking setup to do this with quick print. In the documentation it says tools setup sales advanced picking setup….but it’s not there. Using Dynamics GP …

Hello, I observed that CRM automatically generates a ticket number for every case added by the user. The ticket number has a “CAS-” prefix. Is this prefix always same? or is it different based on the cases? We need this information, since the ticket number has to be given to the customer’s and i am not sure whether CAS is also required to be given. Can we always add “CAS-” prefix and use only the number for interaction with the customer? Thanks for your time. Regards, Venkat The prefix is the same for all tickets. Matt Parks —————————–…

The problem with your document is that you have put everything into textboxes instead of into the table cells you have below them. You also don’t need the \* MERGEFORMAT switch that every SEQ field in your document now has.

Drag your cursor on the Font toolbar on the top of the ms word document and formulate necessary alterations. If you are troubling to find ways to include images to make your ticket look appealing and rich, then you need not worry. Just put your cursor on the Insert option in the tool bar and hit on it to add appropriate images befitting the occasion.

I already created a background image (in EPS format, which is available to Vector Plus members in the download). Select the Rectangle Frame Tool (F) from the tools palette and drag a rectangle onto the page. Then click Command + D and locate the image (in this case an image that you chose to use as a background for the tickets).

Great question! I had to try this out to see what would happen. I assumed you could do it normally, but it turns out the background image was NOT copied when I merged. So I tried added it after I merged and it placed it behind ALL my pages. So try merging your file to a new document and then adding the background image. It should add it to all your pages. And remember when you print to make sure the printer knows to print background images, otherwise they wont appear! Hope this helps!

Hello – I want to be able to print the User Defined 1 field from the SOP document’s SHIP TO address on the picking ticket. I can’t seem to get to this particular user defined field. Any suggestions? Thanks, Tracey …

The ticket numbering problem seems solved, if awkwardly. But what about linking automatic numbering of text references to a figure (e.g. “see fig.101″) to a legend of that figure (e.g. Fig. 101 shows….”)? Is this quite beyond InDesign CS3? If it is solvable the solution isn’t mentioned in any CS3 book I have managed to get hold of, nor is it dealt with in the CS3 Help facility as far as I can see, nor were the speakers at a recent Adove CS3 Workshop able to solve it. Please advise this frustrated book author!

Now, you can start putting images and text into here. But you can also insert the ticket number and inspirational quote in by inserting a Text Field. Clicking on those will add autofill textboxes into the merge area.

It was the paper size and multiple pages that was stumping me. However I do have a tip for those wanting a short cut to raffle books of 10. It is a little more fidgety so Im sure someone who is experienced with excel (Im not) but it will make the cutting perfect. Print out in sheets of ten and you just need to staple, cut and perforate…then you have 4-5 ready made raffle books.

Your browser may be blocking pop ups by default. When you click the link in youtube, it should pop up to another website. If it does not, look near the address bar on your browser to allow popups. When you get to our site, scroll down to where it says “Other Products” and look for the “Raffle Tickets Full” and “Number Series” links to download the files needed.

If you hold regular raffles, design base ticket, stub and cover designs, with images and text etc, but without specific raffle details (draw date, prizes, ticket price etc.) and save the design file. Now you can re-start RafflePrinter, load the saved design file and just add relevant dates, prices, prizes etc for the next raffle.

Before you complete the merge, preview the merge results to make sure that the tracking numbers will display as you want them to in your publications. You can preview the merge in two ways: While you are refining the layout to review the layout of the individual coupon or gift certificate, or when you are getting ready to print, to preview the arrangement of coupons or gift certificates on the printed sheet.

The problem is that they have to be numbered only 1 per page, so that when i have printed them all i can easily crop them and staple them right up with having to go through it all.

Creating numbered tickets in Word can seem difficult or even impossible if you are not familiar with all the capabilities of the Word program. If you have tried going to the Word template section and have been unsuccessful or frustrated with all the options and questions, there is an easier way. The simplest resolution for creating numbered tickets is to find existing templates that can be edited and adjusted to fit your needs.

Thank you for these instructions!! I’m using them to auto number my son’s baseball team raffle tickets which we hand numbered last year (UGH!). 2. At this point you need to check the selected ticket template thoroughly for any pre existing numbers. Many of the Word templates in the Microsoft Publisher come with numbers. If you wish to facilitate numbering then you can click on the number box or else you can give delete option to commence your own numbering series.

We also want to setup right away the crop marks for the tickets. Create another layer and call it “crop marks & score marks.” We will place the crop marks and the score line onto this layer. Start placing crop marks that you create with the Pen Tool (P) around the ticket.

Jeff Harrison saw a posting about a cool little utility in the Corel newsgroups and created some video tutorials showing how to use the utility in conjunction with CorelDRAW’s print merge. If you ever have to apply sequential numbers to something in CorelDRAW, then you’ll want to check this out. Jeff has two tutorials that walk you through multi-part invoices and raffle tickets. Even better, they are both completely free!

Your finished file can then be printed on most inkjet or laser printers. After printing you can easily separate the tickets which are micro-perforated or hand out to team members to sell by the sheet or let them separate the raffle tickets as they are sold.

On a master page, create a text box. rightclick/insert special character/markers/current page number (also under the type menu). Have your ticket image on the master page too, then just create x number pages for x number of tickets.

To change the Type — e.g., to “Number Order” (First, Second, etc.) — use the Number Type drop list on that dialog. If you delete a subsequent [Outline] code it will cause the subsequent numbers to revert to the type that was used above that point.

There’s an old Steve Martin joke about how to make a million dollars which starts, “First, get a million dollars…” That’s the key to this trick, too: First, get a bunch of numbers. The Bullet and numbering list is suitable for the “Transform” tool, combinated with Move+Copy+ the calculated distance and then just aplly the Cmd/Ctrl + Alt+3 for the “Transform again” tool. This is wonderful. It`a like the “Apply Duplicate” command in Corel Draw, but more powerful.

I’m struggling with this as well. I tried creating a .txt file of sequential numbers 1-99 from Excel and brought it in as a datamerge. My tickets are 8″x3″, 3-up, but when I did the merge, InDesign added 3,416 pages. Where the Hell is THAT coming from?? Any clue what I’m doing wrong? I’m using http://sl-inworld.com tutorial that is using CS5, but I don’t see how that has anything to do with all those bloody pages.

3. Consequently, select the Insert option and then move your cursor over the Draw Text Box choice and click it. Wait till your cursor symbol becomes a plus mark. Then hit on the ticket and pull to sketch a tiny box to add the number sequences.

5. Drag the number, which Publisher defaults to “1,” into place on the ticket. To change the sequence, such as to start with “100” instead of “1,” click the “Page Number” button again and choose “Format Page Numbers.” Click the “Start this section with” radio button and type the new number into the field. Click the “OK” button to have Publisher update the ticket number.

Most changes you make to the top ticket are automatically made on all the other tickets, too. No tiring copying and pasting needed. The template shows just 5 tickets, but once you have them looking the way you want, just multiply them using copy and paste.

Create a new document in Word and type in the basic information that you need on your raffle tickets. The event you are raising money for, the price of the ticket, the date of the draw and the prizes that are on offer. Depending on your local laws, you might also need to include a licence number and contact name on each ticket.

The very first step you need to do is to drag your cursor towards the Help icon in the new word document. This icon usually appears in the right part of the top portion of the tool bar listing. It is depicted by a question mark symbol. You have to left click on this menu with your mouse and you need to opt from the type of help listed in the drop-down carte du jour. The four templates with automatic serial numbering are quite nice and one of them will most likely be suitable for your needs. You can edit them as well. If you’re going to do that, save the original template separately. Doing so will give you a fresh template, in case you need one.

I am creating a file in inDesign for a client that is asking for numbered tickets. They’d like to be able to print a specific number for each ticket. I’ve read some of the older answers for similar questions that refer to Data Merge, but I’d prefer not to take that route if avoidable. What I’d ultimately like to do is create a space for the numbers to go, select the number of pages within the Print menu, and have the spaces populate with the corresponding numbers while printing.

(If you prefer using the keyboard, rather than the mouse, then do this instead of dragging down: select cell A2, hit CTRL+C to copy, then select cell A3 and use SHIFT+PageDown to select all the way down to row 500. Then hit CTRL+V to paste.)

(Advanced) opens the Filter and Sort dialog box, which you can use to filter using multiple criteria. You also can click Filter under Refine recipient list in the Mail Merge Recipients dialog box to open the Filter and Sort dialog box.

Hit the Merge to New Document button on the Mail Merge toolbar. (I don’t advise merging right to the printer. Most of you that are selling raffle tickets don’t want to waste the paper to print them wrong.)

Now for the slightly hard bit. If you just try and complete your merge now, you’ll get several pages of tickets. Each page will have four tickets on it. But all tickets on any page will have the same number. Each page will have a different number, but all raffle ticket numbering tickets on that page will have the same number. That’s no good. You need each ticket to have a different number.

Click on Update Labels in the “Mailing” ribbon, and this will roll out the formatting to all the cells. You can click “Preview Results” to see what the tickets will look like when printed, and you can navigate pages and tickets by using Next Record, Last Record, Previous Record, or First Record.

Added bonus 2: Regular lottery players have numbers they like to play. Since the tickets will come to you in order, your buyers will be able to choose their favorite numbers. Instead of buying one ticket they might buy several (with their favorite numbers) resulting in even more money for your cause!

Sounds like you have put a “Next Record” field after the final ticket on each page. Because the final ticket is at the end of the page, the number will increment automatically at the end of a page. If you put a ‘Next’ field there too, you’ll jump two numbers. This issue is mentioned in Step 5 above, but maybe I should make it clearer.

When you’re ready to print your tickets, choose one of our handy raffle ticket templates. I’m creating raffle tickets for a company. I need to make sure numbers appear at the top and at the bottom of the ticket. Instead of going in and individually numbering each, is there any way I can achieve this just on the master page?

This all seems so disappointing. I was hoping for a good solution to this problem. I’m a new printer and very much prefer the Adobe CS4 Suite to Corel Draw which I also use. Corel Draw X4 has a simple effective solution to this. Guess I’m stuck using Corel for this project. You’d think the Adobe folks would know better.

I ran into this exact problem a few years back in CS1 and struggled to come up with anything more robust than auto-page numbers. These are all great solutions, but I agree with Klaus. It shouldn’t be this difficult.

To use mail merge to create a batch of gift certificates or coupons with tracking numbers, you need to set up a data source that contains a column listing the tracking numbers. If you plan to add only the tracking numbers to your publications, create a data source for the tracking numbers. If you also plan to use mail merge to insert additional information into your publications, such as customer names or addresses, you can add the column of tracking numbers to a data source that also lists the name and address data that you want to use.

If you are designing a gift certificate or coupon from scratch, you can either start with a completely blank publication or adapt an existing publication. Small-sized publication types, such as business cards, postcards, and labels can be adapted to serve as coupons. Flyers or brochures can be adapted for use as gift certificates.

Thank you for your reply.  It reassured me that I was on the right path. From having read other Help texts, I guessed that I would have to use good ole mail-merge and set up a numbers list in Excel. Luckily my knowledge of Excel was good enough to know about the drag&drop for sequential immediate numbering. When it came to the crunch, it was this particular type of mail merge which gave me a bit of initial difficulty. Despite my having used it happily and often in Word, for labels in Publisher, it was – not surprisingly – different in certain respects; principally the crucial point of the Print stage, which necessitated finding the option Publications & Paper Settings, and selecting 2 specific parameters, namely (1) Multiple pages per sheet,  (2) Single-sided printing (my default double printing had appeared). Once I’d sussed this, it was plain sailing.  Thanks again.

Gift certificates and promotional coupons can play an important role in your marketing strategy by drawing new and repeat customers to your business. However, how can you tell if they are really working to help you develop your business? To make the most of your time and your marketing budget, you need to track the success of your marketing efforts so that you can determine what marketing tactics are effective for which customers.

Being the printer, I can’t say I pass the job on to the printer. 🙂 We do it using auto page numbering, export it as one big pdf, and then use our imposition program to lay the file up multiple times on a page. A lot of jobs we do leave the number blank, and use the numbering machine later, but we’re getting more and more jobs that are run on digital presses like the Docucolor 250 and have numbers too small for the numberer, so we have to do them in the file. This works fine for single-sided jobs, but when a job numbers on one side, but not the other, it gets tricky, especially if it’s NCR, which has to be duplexed.

Many community businesses will donate prizes for the raffle; all you have to do is ask. They’re generally willing to do that because they understand the goodwill that is generated from their contribution efforts.

I need to change text in pre set lines to accommodate 4 prizes. How do I change it so that it will show on all tickets? Are you using a template? How many tickets are there per page? Are you using a merge? If you are using a merge and you have one ticket on your screen, changing the prize entries should change the prize entries on all the tickets. Unfortunately, I think you will have to go back and start over. The starting template page is what determines how your entire document will look, so you really need to have that setup first. If you have a basic design already setup, you can just copy that over to the new format and then add the mail merge numbers back into the document. That would probably be the easiest way to approach it.

Easiest way to achieve that would be to create a your list of numbers in Step 3 in Excel so it runs as 1,168,336,2,169,337 … etc., like this:

Now for the tricky bit. Mail Merges usually have the one ‘recipient’ per page. So Word won’t pick out the next number in your list until it gets to a new page. By default, it’ll print you four tickets on each page, all with the same number. Then a new page, all with the next number. Etc.

Use scissors or a paper cutter to cut the tickets, leaving each set intact. When a person buys a ticket, the seller should separate the tickets right then, giving one ticket to the buyer and dropping the other ticket into the receptacle from which the winning ticket will be drawn.

(These instructions are for Microsoft Publisher. Instructions for printing raffle tickets using Microsoft Word are here. Or use this special online raffle ticket program which is much easier than Word or Publisher!)

I ran into this exact problem a few years back in CS1 and struggled to come up with anything more robust than auto-page numbers. These are all great solutions, but I agree with Klaus. It shouldn’t be this difficult.

Post office Box Deliveries: UPS will not deliver to Post Office Boxes. We can, however ship your raffle tickets via U.S. Priority mail. The charge for priority mail is $5.00 per 1000 raffle tickets. Add the appropriate charge in the box: “Price for Additional Services add to my order”.

One of the easiest ways to track the success of marketing pieces like gift certificates and coupons is to add a tracking number or code to each gift certificate or coupon that you distribute. When gift certificates or coupons are redeemed, you can use these tracking numbers to record and categorize customer responses.

Smile! Be friendly and approachable. You’re raising funds for a cause that you’re passionate about, so let that shine through. People respond to genuineness, and when they can see how much you care, they’ll be more likely to buy from you.

Now, you’ll define the actual merge values. In this case, it’s the Ticket Numbers field in the selected raffle ticket numbering in word workbook. Drag the Ticket Numbers field from the merge pane to the document (Figure G). After dropping the field control, I pressed [Enter] to replace Microsoft with the <> field.

The From and To numbers are set so the pages (and tickets) can be ordered correctly for cutting into books with consecutive ticket numbers. If you can’t get the exact end ticket number required, just select the nearest higher number, and only print required number form the print file.

After you set up your list of tracking numbers in the data source and design your publication, you are ready to merge your list of tracking numbers with your publication to create a batch of gift certificates or coupons that each displays a unique tracking number.

That’s right. There’s a great ticket template that comes with Microsoft Word 2010 and newer. When you create a new document in word, just type “raffle tickets” in the search box. Then you’ll see a thumbnail image of the template.

How do you go about sequentially numbering for your raffle tickets? You can do sequential numbering manually, or you can use Microsoft Excel in a mail-merge type of operation. If you’re not sure how to go about the mail-merge, the directions are above in the Template Design File section.

You can request us to change the stub ie, instead of Name, Address and Phone ADMIT ONE, name and date of your event. (This is helpful if you are pre-selling your tickets because your seller can retain the stub portion for record keeping. If you prefer no stub, place your order and select “tickets with no stub”. In either case, your proof will show a standard stub but your Admission Tickets will either have no stub or one with the information you requested.

If you just need to use a few times or if you are a print shop you can save the output files for future use without having to re-generate the data merge file over and over. They have a limited demo you can test drive.

Actually, there’s a much easier way if you lay out the file 2-up. Export to PDF and open the file in Acrobat. Use the Document > Add Header & Footers > Add menu command. Add a page number for BOTH the header and footer. Click okay and in about 2 seconds Acrobat adds the numbers.

With Adobe Encore CS4 you can import assets, create timelines, and link objects. Output video to DVD, Flash, and Blu-ray using the Build panel. Features: • Integration with Adobe Resource Central, the online store from which you can download functional content • Enhanced HD preview • Support for enabling third-party card playback

It’s best to use something other than general copy paper when printing raffle tickets. Heavier weight paper, or even card stock, could be a better choice. Not only does it look more professional, but the tickets will tear off more easily along the perforation. Choose paper colors on the lighter end of the spectrum so that the template design shows up clearly when printed.

You’re selling raffle tickets to make money, so why buy the tickets pre-printed? Using Microsoft Word’s mail merge function, you can create your own raffle tickets and design them any way you please. A mail merge doesn’t have to make mail; it is simply a way to define certainly elements of a document, then automatically insert variable elements, such as raffle ticket numbers. The most important thing to remember is that each ticket needs a mate–you don’t want to pull winning ticket number 81018 only to find that no one bought that one.

After you install this plug-in (it only takes a minute or so), each time you start InDesign you’ll see a new tip or technique appear on your screen. Enjoy! The CS5 update for the Free version will not be released. If you enjoyed your daily tips in InDesign CS – CS4 and want to keep getting them in CS5, you need to get the Blatner Tools plug-ins suite.

After facilitating appropriate modifications, the number in the ticket series will automatically get updated by the system. Another key factor that you have to bear in mind before clicking on the print option is to check whether the tickets are updated without any errors.

Whatever your fundraising needs are for; school fundraising, church fundraising, gun raffles, or any other type raffle needs, you will find a low cost ticket to choose from that will be delivered with fast turnaround. All our prices include sequential numbering. Within each style, you also have the option as to whether the tickets come loose, padded or in booklets.

Now Option/Alt-click on the Autonumbering button in the Control panel (or choose Bullets and Numbering from the Control panel flyout menu) and choose the list you created in the Lists pop-up menu. You might want to adjust the other settings to match this:

Now repeat for the second and third tickets. But not the fourth, because that’s at the end of the page, so Word will skip to the next number anyway, because the next page always gets the next item in your merge list. Your document should look like this:

I already created a background image (in EPS format, which is available to Vector Plus members in the download). Select the Rectangle Frame Tool (F) from the tools palette and drag a rectangle onto the page. Then click Command + D and locate the image (in this case an image that you chose to use as a background for the tickets).

@Andy: I’m sorry that I sounded dismissive. That wasn’t my intent. Rather, I was just admitting that I had no idea why someone using CS3 would not see the dialog boxes as they are shown above. If you’re using CS2, they would be significantly different. But the second part of the tip (where I show the numbering dialog boxes) relies on CS3 or later. If you are using CS3 or CS4 and you don’t see that dialog box, feel free to email me at david [at] indesignsecrets [dot] com and send me a screen shot of what you are seeing.

If the numbers appear to be cut off, adjust the formatting and layout of your publication. For example, you may need to increase the size of the text box that contains the data field for your tracking number, or you might need to decrease the font size of the data field.

I use a little program called “Number It” I purchased on E-bay a couple of years ago. It will print the ticket (from bmp file) and number on the Canon 3200 in one pass. BW or Color. Nice little program and well worth the $50-80 price.

Added bonus 2: Regular lottery players have numbers they like to play. Since the tickets will come to you in order, your buyers will be able to choose their favorite numbers. Instead of buying one ticket they might buy several (with their favorite numbers) resulting in even more money for your cause!

In the tutorials, Jeff wishes that there was a way to create the numbers in reverse order. http://sl-inworld.com author of Numbergen has already updated the software to give Jeff his wish. We have added a link to download the utility as well as to watch the tutorials to the main tutorial page.

You can now print raffle tickets at home or at the office when you use our raffle ticket templates and raffle ticket paper from Blanks USA. Do it yourself and keep more of the raffle profits for your team or organization.

Our raffle ticket templates have a placeholder for a ticket number, usually “xxx” to remind you it needs to be replaced. Select it, click Insert Merge Field > Ticket. Do the same for the second ticket number placeholder. Most tickets will have two number placeholders because one part of the ticket is for the raffle host (you) and the other is for the purchaser.

Now for the slightly hard bit. If you just try and complete your merge now, you’ll get several pages of tickets. Each page will have four tickets on it. But all tickets on any page will have the same number. Each page will have a different number, but all the tickets on that page will have the same number. That’s no good. You need each ticket to have a different number.

Select the number of books to print from the Books dropdown and Tickets per book from Tickets/Book dropdown. The total number of tickets, calculated from selected books and Tickets/Book is displayed, with total pages (including cover pages) needed to produce the tickets.

(If you prefer using the keyboard, rather than the mouse, then do this instead of dragging down: select cell A3, hit CTRL+C (or cmd+C on a Mac) to copy, then select cell A4 and use SHIFT+fn+down arrow to select all the way down to row 501. Then hit CTRL+V (or cmd+V on a Mac) to paste.)

These tricks are all great for those of us that have had the joy of making cheap, simple tickets for an office party, small fundraiser, or contest and the boss doesn’t want to spend the time and money to send this job out and have it printed properly.

Am I the only individual here who is using CS3, and trying the method described, only to find that my version (5.0.2) for the mac doesn’t have the options anywhere that the author suggests? I have spent the past 2 hours trying to find the same screenshots the author has, only to become reall discouraged. Perhaps he is using a windows version that is setup differently?

Start adding some text. Date, time, place, event, etc. Be creative. You can place color boxes behind the text and play with the font sizes. I usually never use more the two fonts, and if I do, I’ll make sure that they are quite the opposite. Pick a font with a big family, meaning lots of weights. Helvetica, DIN or Univers are good choices.

Once you’re sure that the legal bases are covered, you’ll want to be sure that your raffle tickets make running the show easy and successful. Printing your own tickets can help. It could save you money and it gives you complete control over how your tickets look.

(If you prefer using the keyboard, rather than the mouse, then do this instead of dragging down: select cell A2, hit cmd+C to copy, then select cell A3 and use SHIFT+fn+down arrow to select all the way down to row 500. Then hit cmd+V to paste.)

2. Check the existing document for prepopulated ticket numbers. Some Publisher templates include these. Click any numbered box to enable it, then click the “Delete” key to remove it, as you want to start your own sequence. Scroll through any other pages that may have been included with the template, and remove all of the sequenced numbers.

Now you’re done. Click OK and you should see the number appear in the text frame. To make more numbers, just duplicate this frame. Every time you make a new frame, InDesign increments the number automatically. Note that in the following image, the frames are not threaded together:

First, you have to use YOUR field and control names. The ones I use are samples. The error you are getting indicated you do not have a control named txtProject. So you have to substitute the correct name of the control. bound to the ProjectID field. By the way it is not a good idea to the octothorpe(#) as part of a field name. A controlname may be different from a fieldname. The name property of a control is on the Other tab in the Properties dialog.

Remember that you must update the values in the sheet if you want to continue the numbering series with the next batch of tickets. For instance, if you want your next batch of tickets to start with 112, you’d open the workbook and change the value 100 to 112, and update the remaining values accordingly. Don’t forget to save the workbook after updating the values.

There’s an old Steve Martin joke about how to make a million dollars which starts, “First, get a million dollars…” That’s the key to this trick, too: First, get a bunch of numbers. Here’s a file with 1,197 numbers in it. Now import or paste those numbers into a thread so that the numbers appear in the right place. If you need two matching numbers, just import it twice.

If you have already developed a set of specific code numbers that you want to use to track and categorize customer responses, you can type these numbers into a column of the data source that you plan to use for the mail merge.

Corel crashed repeatedly on my production person today while he was trying to number them using the plug-in. I couldn’t figure out how to make Mike’s script work. It appeared designed for variable numbers in one place. My customer needed her tickets numbered in two places, on the ticket and on the stub. Because she needs them tomorrow there is no time to send them out to be numbered manually. I’ll keep watching this space for more info. Thanks folks.

why cant we do it in a much more simpler way. We can place the auto page number (000) along with the ticket artwork on MASTER page and then just create 300 pages. The page numbering has to start from a 3 digit number like 301. I just completed this in 4 min flat assuming the artwork of the ticket is ready…

In the Mail Merge Recipients dialog, you have the opportunity to customize the list. We want all the numbers (Figure F), so don’t uncheck anything before clicking OK. When applying this method to your own work, remember that you can exclude recipients at this point.

Microsoft Publisher, the desktop publishing component of the Professional version of the Office Suite, can perform many time-saving tasks for busy business owners, including layout and design work. It can even help you avoid a shopping run to try to find tickets for your next employee picnic, holiday giveaway or executive board meeting. Create your own tickets, including the vital sequential ordering needed for raffles or attendance tracking, using Publisher’s page numbering. With a few tricky manipulations of the page number process, you can start running the numbers in an entirely new fashion.

Brilliant! I followed your instructions to the end, though I had to Google how to do a mail merge in Publisher 2010. But, with your help, I now have gorgeous raffle tickets of my own design! Thank you 🙂

“raffle tickets template with numbers +raffle ticket numbering publisher”

Great question! I had to try this out to see what would happen. I assumed you could do it normally, but it turns out the background image was NOT copied when I merged. So I tried added it after I merged and it placed it behind ALL my pages. So try merging your file to a new document and then adding the background image. It should add it to all your pages. And remember when you print to make sure the printer knows to print background images, otherwise they wont appear! Hope this helps!

Your finished file can then be printed on most inkjet or laser printers. After printing you can easily separate the tickets which are micro-perforated or hand out to team members to sell by the sheet or let them separate the raffle tickets as they are sold.

Once your tickets are printed, then comes the task of cutting and perforating the tickets so that you can easily tear the ticket from the stub. It’s not as hard as you might think. With a full-size paper cutter and an inexpensive tracing wheel, you can easily complete this part of the job.

You can use Microsoft Office Publisher, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office Access, Microsoft Office Outlook, or Microsoft Office Outlook with Business Contact Manager to create a data source for your mail merge project. If you want to create a large list of unique, sequential numbers to use as tracking codes for gift certificates or coupons, however, you can use Excel to quickly generate this list.

I think it’s by far the best option for basic numbering.

You have 2 options depending on your needs. If your background image is the full 8 1/2″ x 11″ size, then you can simply go to Format>Background>Fill Effects (this may be different on newer versions of Word). This will insert an image behind the entire document. When printing, you will need to make sure the background printing checkbox is ticked. If you need to insert an image into each box, you will then need to use text boxes with no fill to place text over the images.

I’ve described how to do this using Data Merge a number of times, including in post # 6 at I need to number 20,000 tickets in InDesign and have them in order when I cut them where I describe how to do it for stack-cut imposition without a plugin.

I’m quite inclined to let the printer add the numbers. Less file size for me, less plates for me. I recently sent an invite to a digital printers, I offered to lay it up with all the names, they rejected the idea and said they could merge the names in as it printed. I guess it’s down to what you’re going to use it for. But if you’re going to print them yourself then by all means, if it’s going to a printer, best to check with them before you send anything definite over.

If the second number on your raffle ticket is one higher than the first number, you must have accidentally put the <> tag after the first number (causing the next number, on the same ticket, to increase by one). You only need the <> after the second number on each ticket, so the next ticket gets a new number. (But you don’t need it on the final ticket on the **page**, because the next **page** automatically gets a new number)

Use scissors or a paper cutter to cut the tickets, leaving each set intact. When a person buys a ticket, the seller should separate the tickets right then, giving one ticket to the buyer and dropping the other ticket into the receptacle from which the winning ticket will be drawn.

We recommend you create a print file (the default) and then print the tickets in batches from this saved file, so make sure you include all the tickets needed in this selection. This will only create the Print File, and will not go directly to the printer.

I also use printer bench pro…we do 12 coupons up on 11×17, and print the background into a variable data master file and then select this master when printing out of PBP and its easy cheezy….now if they would just write the software for a mac

Zoom into the tickets where you have placed the text for the numbering and click on the data merge palette. This should be open already since we already called in the data file in Step 11. Place the text cursor behind the last letter of your text. Then click on the text data file (100.txt) in the Data Merge Palette.

Unfortunately, InDesign isn’t exactly speedy at updating these numbers when you add a bunch of pages. But it’s not hard to duplicate and reduplicate until you have a thousand or more numbered tickets.

This all seems so disappointing. I was hoping for a good solution to this problem. I’m a new printer and very much prefer the Adobe CS4 Suite to Corel Draw http://ringringpromotions.org I also use. Corel Draw X4 has a simple effective solution to this. Guess I’m stuck using Corel for this project. You’d think the Adobe folks would know better.

We use the auto page numbering trick here, the trick is to do it as spreads. You just make your pages the same size as the ticket with crops and bleeds. Then set up the shell on the master page and place your auto page number where you want your numbers. Each pages is the next number. You can also have two sets of numbers for perforated ticket. You then can use the page start options to add to the numbers and keep the same number of total numbers. For example you would do a new page start after number 99. 0001 to 0099 so it doesn’t add two “0’s” to the front of 100 and you get 00100 when you want 0100. Works great for small quantities, we have done up to 1000+ tickets and once you do it once or twice it is a snap to set up. To avoid having to do 1000 pages just send the tickets in groups. Usually between 25 to 100 at a time works good depending on artwork file size. Just save each time before sending to printer and name the file with what the tickets are. Like “MyTickets-0001-0100.Indd”. Makes it easier to go back if you have a problem. You can even do two rolls of tickets if your using 12 x 18 sheets by flipping the sheet and doing one row along the top and one along the bottom on reverse side. That is if your ticket is single Sided. Two sided tickets are a bit trickier. 🙂

WordPerfect menu choices (below) refer to the menu (right-click on the top menu bar for a choice of menus). If you use a menu, the choices might be absent from your menu (but not from the program), or they might be found under another menu selection. See here for more.

Just download the Raffle tickets with consecutive numbering and matching stubs from the Microsoft Office website. It is a 2003 version and I have Office 2010.   The template has sequential numbering and displays 8 tickets on 2 pages, but I need 3000 tickets.  How do I add more tickets to this document.  I have looked online for tutorials, but most are for starting a ticket from scratch.  Please help!!

Was very easy to use and the tickets looked great. Unfortunately, when I went to print them, there is a fee. I am doing this for a non-profit group and I personally do not have the funds to do this. Maybe something before we get to the print page would make for a lot less frustration which generated negative feedback. The tickets look great otherwise and was very easy to do.

While Automatic Numbering is very useful, there are times when you may want to freeze numbers. This cannot be easily undone, but the process is described here: Converting Automatic Numbering to Manual Numbering

The task of producing numbered tickets in Microsoft Word might seem pretty tough and strenuous especially for those people who are not skilled and trained in using Word files. There are quite a lot of people who have been left disappointed, disheartened and exasperated by their failures in attempting to explore how to create tickets for an event using Word templates. Many unanswered queries, doubts and confusions might have stood in the path of your success.

To make your raffle give-away as easy as possible, consider the 50/50 raffle, where 50% of the proceeds generated from ticket sales goes to the drawn winner of the raffle, and 50% goes to the organization raising the funds. Besides being easy to award the prize, it also eliminates the hassle of securing merchandise.

You may be tempted to place this number on a master page. That would make sense, but there’s a catch: Autonumbered paragraphs on a master page don’t update until you override them. That is, you have to Command/Ctrl-Shift-click on them to make them “kick in” and update to the correct number.

Zoom into the tickets where you have placed the text for the numbering and click on the data merge palette. This should be open already since we already called in the data file in Step 11. Place the text cursor behind the last letter of your text. Then click on the text data file (100.txt) in the Data Merge Palette.

GREAT tip with lots of uses! Thank you. This will save me hours of work on some tickets I’m designing. However, I also need to set up table tents that have numbers on them. They’re 2-up, and are folded, so each number needs to appear twice on the same page. In short, I want a page with 1/1 and 2/2, and I’m getting 1/2 and 3/4. Am I missing an obvious fix? Thank you.
