“minnesota raffle ticket winning numbers -how can I number raffle tickets in publisher”

I am printing many pages of tickets. Each page has 5 tickets and I would like to sequentially put a number on each ticket. I have tried to use the auto page numbering feature but that is putting the same number on each of the 5 tickets and then increments for the next page — not what I need. Also, can the numbering not suppress the leading zeroes? Thanks….

You create a numbering macro in Excel. I have mine set-up so I can do multi-up NCR crash numbering and still be able to cut & stack the output. Raffle tickets would be just as easy. PM me with your e-mail and I will send you my excel file.

Create tickets and forms of all types. Design labels, coupons, gift certificates, or any document that requires text, graphics, or serial numbering. Create and print your project from your desktop in minutes with our easy to use interface.

Was very easy to use and the tickets looked great. Unfortunately, when I went to print them, there is a fee. I am doing this for a non-profit group and I personally do not have the funds to do this. Maybe something before we get to the print page would make for a lot less frustration which generated negative feedback. The tickets look great otherwise and was very easy to do.

I would like to number a voucher book, i have place 4 vouchers on a page, the thing is that i want each of these vouchers to start with different number, 100, 200, 300, 400, and then i want to number them 99 times. The problem is that they have to be numbered only 1 per page, so that when i have printed them all i can easily crop them and staple them right up with having to go through it all.

You can use Microsoft Office Publisher, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office Access, Microsoft Office Outlook, or Microsoft Office Outlook with Business Contact Manager to create a data source for your mail merge project. If you want to create a large list of unique, sequential numbers to use as tracking codes for gift certificates or coupons, however, you can use Excel to quickly generate this list.

Reorders: If you need more raffle tickets for an order you have place recently, that’s a pretty good problem to have. During business hours (Monday thru Friday and 10am to 1pm Saturday – EST) just give us a call (513)-733-3900. After business hours you can place online – you only need to fill in the first ticket line. In the “instructions” section tell us that this is an exact reorder and what number to start at.

Am I the only individual here who is using CS3, and trying the method described, only to find that my version (5.0.2) for the mac doesn’t have the options anywhere that the author suggests? I have spent the past 2 hours trying to find the same screenshots the author has, only to become reall discouraged. Perhaps he is using a windows version that is setup differently?

Understood. What I have been working on is a mailmerge. What it does is you have 3 documents, the ticket template, the list of numbers wanted. Then when you merge them, the raffle ticket shows on each ticket, all with different numbers.

One of my templates is only $25 so for any shop that just wants to boost production on a small item that doesn’t really make much profit, it’s a good solution and all the work is already done for them.

I am using my all-time favorite graphic creation program (better than Adobe Illustrator or Corel) in creating stickers with serial numbering. Have a look on how user-friendly it is and very easy to use. If you want some tips and techniques similar to this, just ask, subscribe or comment on it.

Tip: If your data source contains records that share the same information, and there are ten or fewer unique values in the column, you can filter by specific information. For example, if there are multiple records that list Australia as the country/region, you can filter on Australia.

An awesome new feature to has been introduced to Microsoft Publisher 2010 is the ability to use Data Sources to create “Catalogue Pages”. This is like a Mail Merge for design documents. Now, I would have to agree that Publisher isn’t the best graphic design program in the market. But it’s certainly adequate for simple ticket designs — for example, for a school social. Let’s say we want each ticket to have a unique number and an inspiration quote. This is all possible through Publisher and a data source, e.g. an Excel Spreadsheet.

This probably won’t get to you before I need to solve my issue but I am having the following issues using Mac Word 2011- starts at 2 instead of 1, and then skips numbers every new page, i.e. 5 tickets/page numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 -no 7- next page starts 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 – no 13- all the way through to 1300. This ends up eliminating 900+ tickets. Not sure if others have had this issue as well- I can’t seem to find anything online.

Getting Word to put a unique http://ringringpromotions.org on each raffle ticket is easy enough, but persuading Word to print out several uniquely-numbered raffle tickets per sheet of paper is very hard (I think it is impossible, actually. At least I couldn’t figure it out. UPDATE: I did figure it out. Instructions for printing raffle tickets using Microsoft Word are here.). And you don’t really want to have every raffle ticket use up a whole sheet of paper.

Regarding our full color items that we print: Please note due to the nature of our color printing process (CMYK), we cannot print every color available. Please note also that the color image that you view on your monitor is produced in a mode called RGB. All images we receive are automatically converted to the CMYK mode which may cause a shift in color. In addition, the same RGB color will show up differently from one computer monitor to another because of calibration differences between computer monitors. As such, we will not be responsible for any shift in any color printing and will not reprint any order that we feel is within our printing capability! Our prices are highly discounted because variations may occur. The color printing we produce is visually pleasing, but does not attempt to match exact color.

is that it does number properly. If you select ‘8 up’ the number file created is suitable to text merge into InDesign so that after cutting the eight stacks of tickets can be effectively placed one upon each other and the numbering holds.

Enter your own text into the template once it is opened in Publisher. Click in the text boxes on the template to enter text. To change the color of the text, highlight it and use the tools under “Format” and “Font” to change the font color.

Am looking for a template for a raffle ticket – preferably with a tear off stub on one end. Any ideas? Thanks! Raffle tickets are easy to make. Decide what size, input the information. Unfortunately, I think you will have to go back and start over. The starting template page is what determines how your entire document will look, so you really need to have that setup first. If you have a basic design already setup, you can just copy that over to the new format and then add the mail merge numbers back into the document. That would probably be the easiest way to approach it.

The From and To numbers are set so the pages (and tickets) can be ordered correctly for cutting into books with consecutive ticket numbers. If you can’t get the exact end ticket number required, just select the nearest higher number, and only print required number form the print file.

Folks, yes, it’s obviously straightforward doing this with auto page numbers. I should have mentioned at the top of my post that my whole reasoning was based on the idea of having more than one ticket per page! I just assumed that people would want to gang up multiple tickets.

Open Word and create a new document and create one raffle ticket. You want to make it about the right size so that you can fit four tickets on the page. Leave space for the ticket numbers, which you’ll add in a minute. Something like this:

If you place multiple frames on one page and apply the same numbering style, InDesign will count not be placement but order of creation. That is the reason why I get this weird order on the picture above.

From here there is all kind of ways to get the data on your design depending on what your printing to. For example, if you are printing to a Fiery that supports Freeform then you send you layout file and set it as a background then print the mail merge on top of the Freeform background.

This is how the printer’s key will appear in the first print run of a book. Numbers are removed with subsequent printings, so if “1” is seen then the book is the first printing of that edition. If it is the second printing then the “1” is removed, meaning that the lowest number seen will be “2”.

Thank you again for your assistance. I took care of the text boxes and everything works quite well. I had some aggravating moments trying to figure out where the \* MERGEFORMAT switch was coming from; I kept deleting it and it kept coming back like a mosquito. I assume it had something to do with the text boxes. Anyway, the document is now a thing of beauty. Thank you.

Choose the template titled “Raffle tickets 6 per page.” Word will provide a preview of the template and then ask if you would like to download the template. By choosing download, Word will replace your existing document with the raffle ticket template for you to edit.

Increase the First Line Indent value if you want the punctuation in long lists to be aligned. For example, if you want “9.” and “10.” to be aligned on the period, change the Alignment to Right and gradually increase the first line indent until the numbers align (make sure Preview is turned on).

To change the Type — e.g., to “Number Order” (First, Second, etc.) — use the Number Type drop list on that dialog. If you delete a subsequent [Outline] code it will cause the subsequent numbers to revert to the type that was used above that point.

Remember that you must update the values in the sheet if you want to continue the numbering series with the next batch of tickets. For instance, if you want your next batch of tickets to start with 112, you’d open the workbook and change the value 100 to 112, and update the remaining values accordingly. Don’t forget to save the workbook after updating the values.

This video tutorial demonstrates how easy it is to automatically number raffle tickets in Microsoft Word. Simply download a raffle tickets template, download our number series file, and Mail Merge to create the ticket numbers.

Fill out the series by bringing your mouse cursor over to hover at the lower right corner of cell A2. When the cursor changes from a large outlined plus symbol to a smaller, plain plus symbol, click and hold the left mouse button, then drag the mouse straight down to select more cells in column A.

Now for the tricky bit. Mail Merges usually have the one ‘recipient’ per page. So Word won’t pick out the next number in your list until it gets to a new page. By default, it’ll print you four tickets on each page, all with the same number. Then a new page, all with the next number. Etc.

From here there is all kind of ways to get the data on your design depending on what your printing to. For example, if you are printing to a Fiery that supports Freeform then you send you layout file and set it as a background then print the mail merge on top of the Freeform background.

This happens if you change the page size after creating the file—try creating a new document at the finished size, and copy and paste your artwork into the new file. Also, try exporting directly to PDF to cut down on the time.

why cant we do it in a much more simpler way. We can place the auto page number (000) along with the ticket artwork on MASTER page and then just create 300 pages. The page numbering has to start from a 3 digit number like 301. I just completed this in 4 min flat assuming the artwork of the ticket is ready…

Annabelle – You need the tickets in the top slot of each page to run from 1 to 167, then the second slot down to be 168 – 335, then have 336 – 500 in the third slot. Easiest way to achieve that would be to create a your list of numbers in Step 3 in Excel so it runs as 1,168,336,2,169,337 … etc., like this:

I went through the video and everything worked perfectly. Thank you so much for this helpful video. However, I need to go back in a edit the size of overall format, to fit into a stock OfficeDepot template and add 500 numbers. It’s not happening,… is it not possible to edit after you have done the mailmerge? Do I have to start all over and create a new one?

That’s right. There’s a great ticket template that comes with Microsoft Word 2010 and newer. When you create a new document in word, just type “raffle tickets” in the search box. Then you’ll see a thumbnail image of the template.

The script sets the numbering of multiple gang up tickets so that after cutting the tickets do not need recollating to put back into order (like the CS2 script) but also does counterfoil numbers, prefixes, suffixes, leading zeros and output of pages in reverse order for ‘face up’ printing.

Now, what if you want to create multiple tickets for your organization? It is a really hassle free and easy process. Once you have done with your editing and typing of the document, you just need to copy and paste the complete word template over and over again to generate multiple tickets.

5. Drag the number, which Publisher defaults to “1,” into place on the ticket. To change the sequence, such as to start with “100” instead of “1,” click the “Page Number” button again and choose “Format Page Numbers.” Click the “Start this section with” radio button and type the new number into the field. Click the “OK” button to have Publisher update the ticket number.

Being the printer, I can’t say I pass the job on to the printer. 🙂 We do it using auto page numbering, export it as one big pdf, and then use our imposition program to lay the file up multiple times on a page. A lot of jobs we do leave the number blank, and use the numbering machine later, but we’re getting more and more jobs that are run on digital presses like the Docucolor 250 and have numbers too small for the numberer, so we have to do them in the file. This works fine for single-sided jobs, but when a job numbers on one side, but not the other, it gets tricky, especially if it’s NCR, which has to be duplexed.

Start adding some text. Date, time, place, event, etc. Be creative. You can place color boxes behind the text and play with the font sizes. I http://ringringpromotions.org never use more the two fonts, and if I do, I’ll make sure that they are quite the opposite. Pick a font with a big family, meaning lots of weights. Helvetica, DIN or Univers are good choices.

Microsoft Publisher offers many design tools that let you create any type of publication or document. You can essentially make anything in Publisher, including tickets. These steps can be used for creating tickets in both Microsoft Publisher 2003 and 2007.

I have done this twice now, getting flustered. The ticket part the person keeps has the correct sequential number on it, but the side that we keep has the same number on it for the whole page. What part am I missing, at first I did not uncheck the box, but this time I did but have the same number on the stub side that we keep with the person’s name, etc

I’m quite inclined to let the printer add the numbers. Less file size for me, less plates for me. I recently sent an invite to a digital printers, I offered to lay it up with all the names, they rejected the idea and said they could merge the names in as it printed. I guess it’s down to what you’re going to use it for. But if you’re going to print them yourself then by all means, if it’s going to a printer, best to check with them before you send anything definite over.

The publication maintains the link to the data source that you connected it to so that you can jump ahead to the previewing step.

Numbered tickets are a bitch in InDesign. Mainly because if the RIP time. I’ve found that what I have to do is do two runs. One run of just the tickets with the blank area for the numbers. Then I put those back through the copier to print the numbers on them. You want to set up an excel sheet with just one set of your numbers. Not 1, 1, 2, 2. Just 1-3000. Then you create the text boxes for the numbers for the first ticket and draw a text box that is the exact size of the ticket around and send it to the background. Then do a mail merge. You will grab the mail merge name of the column and drop it into each text box so each text box will have the name of your column (like <>). That means that being the same, each number will go into each box so the first ticket will get number 1 and number 1. Then you do the mail merge doing multiple entries per page or whatever it’s called and it will create all the pages needed. So you will end up with a 375 page document to create 3000 total tickets based on an 8 up.

I’m not sure which version of InDesign first introduced printing Thumbnails like this, but even if yours doesn’t support that, your printer driver may have a similar feature of its own. Check the printer’s own dialog box by clicking “Setup…” near the bottom left corner of the Print dialog and dismissing the warning, then clicking “Preferences…” in Windows’s Print dialog that comes up (I’m not sure how to access this on Mac OS X, but I’m pretty sure there’s an easy way). For instance, on many HP printers, the feature you want is called “Pages per sheet” and has a drop-down offering 1, 2, 4, 9, or 16 pages per sheet.

My only argument against Data Merge for numbering tickets is that it takes far longer (for me, at least) than this numbering feature. Nicole – I’m not sure. Are the page and margin settings (from step 1) definitely correct? If each ticket was a little too big, so that only two tickets could be fitted on each sheet of paper, that might create the problem you’ve experienced. Other than that, I’m baffled …

Can anyone please explain this mess? We had a perfectly good working picking ticket on version 7.5, which printed back ordered items, as no one’s inventory is perfect and the salesperson marks the picking ticket if they located the item, which purchasing would then need to adjust in order to allocate the order. Now, nothing that is backordered prints, is printing 2 lines per item because we have some allocated to bins (but this is ONLY for our stock count), so don’t want that on it at all and there’s 2 different picking tickets in report writer and I have to manually modif…

Most changes you make to the top ticket are automatically made on all the other tickets, too. No tiring copying and pasting needed. The template shows just 5 tickets, but once you have them looking the way you want, just multiply them using copy and paste.

Now for the tricky bit. Mail Merges usually have the one ‘recipient’ per page. So Word won’t pick out the next number in your list until it gets to a new page. By default, it’ll print you four tickets on each page, all with the same number. Then a new page, all with the next number. Etc.

You have 2 options depending on your needs. If your background image is the full 8 1/2″ x 11″ size, then you can simply go to Format>Background>Fill Effects (this may be different on newer versions of Word). This will insert an image behind the entire document. When printing, you will need to make sure the background printing checkbox is ticked. If you need to insert an image into each box, you will then need to use text boxes with no fill to place text over the images.

why cant we do it in a much more simpler way. We can place the auto page number (000) along with the ticket artwork on MASTER page and then just create 300 pages. The page numbering has to start from a 3 digit number like 301. I just completed this in 4 min flat assuming the artwork of the ticket is ready…

wow, what a relief to find these solutions! I had to gang 250 stickers on a single page and number them sequentially (so, page numbering and master page solutions wouldn’t work). The tips for Indd ‘numbered lists’ worked like a charm, even tho I’m in CS5. This was a lifesaver; MANY thanks!

If you are making the tickets ten-up you can put everything on a master page. Make the ticket number [Page Number][digit 0–9] then fill with pages based on that master. Page 1 will be tickets 10–19, page 29 will be tickets 290–299, etc.

Starting number for raffle tickets: Unless you specify otherwise they will start at 001. You can specify to begin at 000 (lottery raffles) or any thousand increments such as 2001 or 3,001, etc. If reordering, specify the starting number in the “comments” section.

You’ve got some tips to help make your raffle more successful. You’ve got several free Word ticket templates to choose from. You know how to sequentially number tickets in two different ways. You’re selling raffle tickets to make money, so why buy the tickets pre-printed? Using Microsoft Word’s mail merge function, you can create your own raffle tickets and design them any way you please. A mail merge doesn’t have to make mail; it is simply a way to define certainly elements of a document, then automatically insert variable elements, such as raffle ticket numbers. The most important thing to remember is that each ticket needs a mate–you don’t want to pull winning ticket number 81018 only to find that no one bought that one.

Summary: Templates are a great way to create new documents because they act as intricate patterns to what those new documents should contain. What if you want the new documents to include some sort of automatically incrementing number? This tip looks at ways you can accomplish the task. (This tip works with Microsoft Word 97, Word 2000, Word 2002, Word 2003, and Word 2007.)

I’m creating raffle tickets for a company. I need to make sure numbers appear at the top and at the bottom of the ticket. Instead of going in and individually numbering each, is there any way I can achieve this just on the master page?

You probably know about Word’s mail merge feature, and you might even use it to print labels or other documents, where some of the information changes (such as form letters). You can use the same feature with Publisher. Although you might not think of Publisher as an Office app, it comes with several different versions of Office. In this article, I’ll show you how to print sequentially numbered tickets using Publisher and Excel. This article provides instructions for Publisher 2007, 2010, and 2013.

Tip: If your data source contains records that share the same information, and there are ten or fewer unique values in the column, you can filter by specific information. For example, if there are multiple records that list Australia as the country/region, you can filter on Australia.

Create your first ticket, without the numbering. Then where you want the number to appear first, press Ctrl-F9 to create a pair of field braces (ie ‘{}’) and fill in between them so that you get ‘{SEQ Ticket \# 00000}’. Then, where you want the duplicate number to appear, create another field and fill it it so that you get ‘{SEQ Ticket \c \# 00000}’. From there it’s mostly just a matter of duplicating the whole ticket however many times you want. When you’re done press Ctrl-A to select the whole document, then press F9 to update the fields.

This application creates a data file that can be used with Indesigns Mail/data merge feature that easily allows for numbering raffle tickets and documents and even allows for numbering in multiple locations that is often needed on raffle tickets that require a numbered stud.

David, I was very discouraged to read your response to Josh on April 28th 2008. It seems your comment was quite dismissive to him with exactly no feedback help. He seemed to be looking for some more help trying to work through what you and the other InDesign gurus discuss as a “simple process”.

Open your Layers window. If it is not already open, open it by going to (Window > Layers). Rename the layer with the placed pdf ‘Background’ and then create a new layer and name it ‘Numbering’. Lock the ‘Background’ layer. Then select the ‘Numbering’ Layer.

Keep dragging down and let the sheet scroll up until you get to, say, row 501. That will give you consecutive numbers up to 500. Go as far as you need for the number of raffle tickets you need, like this:

You’ll need raffle ticket numbering decide on a selling price. You don’t want to price them too high so that many people would find it too expensive. The lower the price of each ticket, the more tickets you’ll sell. If you price your tickets at $1 each, expect each buyer to purchase from one to five tickets. If your tickets are $5-10 each, each buyer will likely purchase no more that two.

It’s best to use something other than general copy paper when printing raffle tickets. Heavier weight paper, or even card stock, could be a better choice. Not only does it look more professional, but the tickets will tear off more easily along the perforation. Choose paper colors on the lighter end of the spectrum so that the template design shows up clearly when printed.

Summary: If you need to include serial numbers in your printed matter (labels, letters, documents, etc.), the best way is through the use of Word’s mail-merge capabilities. This tip outlines how you can use this capability to get just the serial numbers you need. (This tip works with Microsoft Word 97, Word 2000, Word 2002, Word 2003, and Word 2007.)

Now, you’ll define the actual merge values. In this case, it’s the Ticket Numbers field in the selected Excel workbook. Drag the Ticket Numbers field from the merge pane to the document (Figure G). After dropping the field control, I pressed [Enter] to replace Microsoft with the <> field.

You may be tempted to place this number on a master page. That would make sense, but there’s a catch: Autonumbered paragraphs on a master page don’t update until you override them. That is, you have to Command/Ctrl-Shift-click on them to make them “kick in” and update to the correct number.

Folks, yes, it’s obviously straightforward doing this with auto page numbers. I should have mentioned at the top of my post that my whole reasoning was based on the idea of having more than one ticket per page! I just assumed that people would want to gang up multiple tickets.

Your finished file can then be printed on most inkjet or laser printers. After printing you can easily separate the tickets which are micro-perforated or hand out to team members to sell by the sheet or let them separate the raffle tickets as they are sold.

Yes, it is a pain to reprint one or two sheets if you have closed the file. I’ve learned to leave the file open on the desktop until the tickets are finished. This way if the perf, or cutter messes up I can easily reprint those ticket numbers without re-aligning the art & numbering.

You will receive an email proof before your raffle tickets are printed.

Zoom into the tickets where you have placed the text for the numbering and click on the data merge palette. This should be open already since we already called in the data file in Step 11. Place the text cursor behind the last letter of your text. Then click on the text data file (100.txt) in the Data Merge Palette.

We recently had to print 500 numbered tickets 8 up on 8.5 x 11. When we took it back to Bindery they would have had to hand collate the tickets back in order after the cut. So we came up with a way that when each stack was cut they would simply be stack on top of each other. We couldn’t figure out a way to add 8 sets of grouped numbers to 8-up layout so I had to go into the txt file and number it manually. It worked fine but took a little time. Is there an option to pull 8 different sets of numbers to one page?

Generating numbered tickets in Microsoft Word document might seem quite challenging and a taxing task if you are a novel user who is not adept in handling Word documents. You might have made numerous attempts in exploring Word templates and might have been fruitless, depressed and annoyed with all the alternatives and problems that you might have come across while trying to comprehend how to create tickets in Word.

Select the Text Tool (T) and start dragging a text box that will wrap around the whole ticket including the crop marks. This is very important since the Data Merge will automatically calculate the duplication. Then open up the Text Frame Option (Command + B) and set the Inset spacing to 1p4 for the top and 1p8 for the left. Of course, you can place the text for the numbers anywhere you like. I set the numbers to a small text.

I to, have read through your directions while using both mac & pc platforms. I fail to find the “standard features” screen shots that you show above in either program. I too have spent several hours trying to get the sequential 3-up numbering as described. In trying to produce 300 tickets, I can get all of the first numbered position to be sequential over 100 pages. But, when moving down to the second or third ticket position on the page and setting up the numbering, I repeatedly find that I get a repeat of the first 100 numbers. I am lost as to how to proceed. Is there any other missing step or info that I am assumed to have knowledge about that was not mentioned above? If you know of some other site that might explain this process any better, please post. Thanks for your help.

David, I submitted that idea to the New Features ID page years ago. So far: Nada. I think it’s such an obvious little feature that it’s almost embarrassing to suggest it. I now leave this matter to Higher Powers with more clout in Adobian matters — like you and Anne-Marie. 🙂

This is how the printer’s key will appear in the first print run of a book. Numbers are removed with subsequent printings, so if “1” is seen then the book is the first printing of that edition. If it is the second printing then the “1” is removed, meaning that the lowest number seen will be “2”.

Create a new document in Word, and set up one ticket to occupy about one quarter of the page. Just use tabs and line breaks to format the text, don’t use text boxes. And leave some space to put the ticket numbers in later. You might end up with something like this:

Added bonus 2: Regular lottery players have numbers they like to play. Since the tickets will come to you in order, your buyers will be able to choose their favorite numbers. Instead of buying one ticket they might buy several (with their favorite numbers) resulting in even more money for your cause!

data merge can be a little tricky for this. Try making a single ticket at the top of your page (not on the master page). Put your merge fields into this ticket. Then when using data merge click the option to put more then one per a page, preview and see if this does what you want it to do. Granted if you have double sided printing, data merge gets very tricky, but can be done.

• The numbers have to be random on the raffle tickets for this to work. In order to be sure you have no duplicate (winning) numbers you have to literally write down each number for each raffle ticket (that’s 1000 numbers – a lot of work).
