If you want to auto number the unique ID column for each project number(e.g. abc/01, abc/02, def/01), in logic, when new item is saved into library, we have to get the maximum number by retrieving all existing item ID for one particualr project, then plus one, using event receivers should be more flexible.
Enter the maximum number of characters to print in an attachment line. If the attachment line has fewer characters than the value that you enter, the system prints the attachment text on one line. If the attachment line has more characters than the value that you enter, the system prints the attachments on multiple lines, up to the number of lines that you specify in the Nbr of Rows for SO Attachments field or the Nbr of Rows for Line Attachments field.
To get the documents in your Book file in the right order, simply select a document and drag it up or down to the correct position. And setting up automatic page numbering is explained below. Remember to save your Book file (see Step 3 above) after you make any changes.
Thanks Javad. That sounds like a very interesting document! So, one part has the binding on the left like normal, and one part has the binding on the right, is this correct? It is possible to re-start the numbering of the page numbers, however the binding swapping might be a more interesting challenge. I would take the easy way out and just create two separate documents, then combine them afterwards!
I am designing a book of walks. I want to create a master map cover a large area and extract regions of this onto separate pages. The individual pages will then have additions graphics and text added and edits to the map data may be required.
Any suggestions on the best way to split the 6 regions so that the top left region would be 1-335, then the middle top would be 336-670, Then the top right would be 671-1005, then bottom left would be 1006 – 1340, Then bottom middle would be 1341-1675, then the final bottom right region would be 1676-2010?
Choosing from a predefined position is the quickest way to insert a page number, but you can easily insert a page number anywhere in the document. For example, you might want to refer to the current page number within the text, or you might want to insert a chapter or volume number directly into a title.
“These are the things I think of when I hear the word ‘typesetting’—they’re memories from my job at Seattle’s free rock and roll newspaper The Rocket, circa 1982. Desktop publishing didn’t exist yet, and digital (as opposed to photo) typesetting systems—with their WYSIWYG displays—were rare. I could set http://ringringpromotions.org about any kind of type using that machine, provided the characters would fit on a piece of film not more than seven inches wide, and provided I didn’t need to use characters from more than six fonts.”
Word’s default number alignment is Left, which presents an awkward list if the numbers reach double digits. Fortunately, you can force proper alignment — if you know where to find the correct option.
Use the Numbering & Section Options dialog box to change the page numbering style to use a different format. You can also use this dialog box to restart page numbering or to start page numbering at a number you specify.
Still on the master page, click with the Type tool inside of each text frame, and go to Type > Insert Special Character > Auto Page Number (in CS3, it’s called “Current Page Number”). You’ll see the single-letter prefix of your master page appear in the text frame while you’re on the master pages, which is correct.
Looks like it works only for one line message, and does not work if my label contains 2 lines, e.g. the 1st line says Trade Show items, the 2nd line says carton number 1 of 30; 2 of 30. Also can I centre it vertically?
In Japanese, Chinese, or Korean versions, by default, Arabic numerals are used for page numbers. However, if you use the Numbering & Section Options command, you can specify the style of numbering, such as Roman numerals, Arabic numerals, Kanji, and so on. The Style option allows you to select the number of digits in the page number, for example, 001 or 0001. Each part of the document that uses a different numbering style is called a section. For more information on sections, see Define section numbering.

Microsoft Word does not support multiple heading-numbering schemes in a single document or master document. When you work with documents that contain both chapter headings and appendix headings, the headings must not use the same heading style level.
I’ve just took photos of a wedding, and i have 180 photos that need numbering so i can put on to CD for the bride and groom to choose from. I will make a checklist on paper and they can check off the number of the photo.

If you try to set up a numbering scheme to do this, you will notice that your number disappears when you press ENTER to type the text or the text may seem off-center. The following exercise walks you through centering text beneath a number.
Creating a sequential list of numbers, in Word, sounds like an intimidating task. Sure, you can create a numbered list quickly enough, but that feature works with additional text – you’re numbering something. If you want a list of just numbers, you have to work a bit harder. Word’s SEQ field might come to mind, but that solution is better suited to template-type numbering. In order words, this field works great if you’re numbering documents, labels, and so on. It doesn’t work so well if you just want to create a list of sequential numbers. You can use it that way, but it’ll be more work than it’s worth.
