If you want page numbers to appear on all pages in the document, add the text frame to a master page. Remember that page numbers are added only to the pages in your document that are associated with that master page.
The key question for version 1.1 is whether it will be released. Every change should (I say must) be approved, otherwise we are accumulating a series of unapproved changes for some future approval and release. If one does the latter, then 1.1 cannot be released and it is considered an internal interim version. To do this well requires a change/release/document control log (whatever we want to call it).
Word comes with some default Outline Numbering schemes that already have Styles attached but that doesn’t mean you are only limited to those styles or those schemes. For more information on styles, see the chapter on Styles.
Now you’re done. Click OK and you should see the number appear in the text frame. To make more numbers, just duplicate this frame. Every time you make a new frame, InDesign increments the number automatically. Note that in the following image, the frames are not threaded together:
By default, pages are numbered using Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3…); however, you can number pages using upper or lowercase Roman (i, ii, iii…) or alphanumeric (a, b, c…) numbering. You can also number pages using preceding zeros. Each part of the document that uses a different numbering style is called a section.
Numbered sections and paragraphs can sometimes help you manage large Word documents efficiently. For instance, if you wanted others to review paragraph 27 in a document, you could simply say “review paragraph 27” and they could scroll right to it. You can add numbers to paragraphs quickly by converting paragraphs into a numbered list and formatting it to suit your needs.
Not a chance—InDesign offers a number of improvements and surprises in the area of typesetting. In this chapter, we’ll start with character formatting (font, point size, kerning, and baseline shift are examples of character formatting), move on to paragraph formatting (indents, tabs, space above and below, and composition), and then dive into formatting using character and paragraph styles. Along the way, there may be a joke or two.

Select documents in your Book file by pressing Ctrl/Cmd and clicking the documents, then click the fly-out menu at the top of the Book panel. If you’ve selected all the documents in your Book file, you’ll see Export Book to PDF in the fly-out menu, and if you’ve only selected some of the documents, you’ll see Export Selected Documents to PDF instead. Click the option you see, and InDesign will present the same Export dialog box you normally get when exporting to PDF in InDesign. Choose your file name and options, click Export, and voila!
Unfortunately, InDesign isn’t exactly speedy at updating these numbers when you add a bunch of pages. But it’s not hard to duplicate and reduplicate until you have a thousand or more numbered tickets.
Even if you did copy the content of another’s blog, if your blog is not a for-money effort I don’t think anybody can say scat about it. Especially since you posted not just a credit to the source but an actual working link. Wordknowhow should be thanking you for driving traffic to his undoubtedly for-money blog page – not whining about it. Given his reaction here, I’m disinclined to visit his page. Pretty sure I can find the information elsewhere. What a self-important crank that guy seems to be.
Type the first item of a new list or select several pre-typed paragraphs. From the Home tab’s Paragraph group, click the Numbering button’s down-arrow. Pick the uppercase or lowercase Roman-numeral format to apply it on your list instantly. To set this format as the default for your document’s numbered lists, reconfigure your Numbering button. Click the Styles group down-arrow on the Home tab, followed by “Options.” Choose “Recommended” in the Select Style to Show box and click “OK.” Then, click the List Paragraph down-arrow, followed by “Modify” and “Numbering.” Select the Roman numeral format and click “OK.”
Using Microsoft Publisher and Number Pro together to create numbering for raffle tickets. Number Pro can be used with Microsoft Publisher, Word, InDesign, Corel Draw, and Quark Express to easily create numbering for your print projects.
I have a word document with a table of 6 exact cells on a full page table. In those cell areas I have been printing tickets with a list and a mail merge and updating labels. I call to an excel list of 1-2000 and then I generate all the pages through the Finish and Merge option. This all works perfect. I get 2000 individually numbered tickets to print…however…I then have six tickets printed on a page of paper with ticket numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6 then the next page has 7,8,9,10,11,12. This is fine but I then have to cut and stack these tickets in groups of six and at that point none of the numbering is sequential. The tickets are basically random.
Then, when you go to print, click on the “Setup” tab of the Print dialog, then check “Thumbnails” towards the bottom. Select the gang-up layout of the thumbnails from the associated drop-down list. Then print. Voila!!
To start page number 1 on the second page of the document go back into the options menu for the page palette and make sure that ‘allow document pages to shuffle’ and ‘allow selected spreads to shuffle’ is not selected. To deselect highlight all of the pages by clicking on the first page, hold down shift and then click on the last page in the document. Go back into the page options menu and deselect.
To delete the currently selected master page from your publication, click the “Delete” button in the “Master Page” button group. If you do this, Publisher will warn you that if the master page has been applied to any pages in your publication, the first master page will be applied in its place as a substitution. If this is fine, then click the “Yes” button to delete the selected master page.
In summary, paragraph numbering is really just an exercise in logic, and this blog post is showing the numbering styles for a very specific project. Your project may be similar, but not exactly the same. You just need to think though the levels and how you want to restart the numbers. I do my best to think it through correctly the first time, set it up, and then try as hard as I can to break it, so that I can find my errors. The good news is that once you get your numbers working, you shouldn’t ever have to think about it again.
1. First, open document numbering in coreldraw and create a new document. Since we will be starting with the letterhead, select Letter as the document size, and set the color mode to RGB. Make sure that the orientation is Portrait and then click OK.
Generally, when you want to change the formatting of some text, you have to select it with the Type tool. However, there are two caveats to this statement. First, because paragraph formatting (which we’ll discuss later) always applies to an entire paragraph, you don’t have to select every character in the paragraph before applying it.

It’s easy to create a bullet or numbered list, but not so easy to format just the number for one item in that list. What usually happens is you end up formatting the entire item, or the entire list. Fortunately, there’s a simple trick that works great: select the item’s end-of-paragraph marker and apply the format – not exactly intuitive is it?
